Hey! I've been wanting to try GMing a pulp style game using the Ubiquity system rules. Ideally, looking for players at least as interested in the RP side as fighting. The 13 Flights of the Zephyr England 1936. The plucky crew of a bankrupt air transport business is rescued by a mysterious woman known only as Lady K. To regain ownership of their beloved aircraft Zephyr , the crew agrees to fly 13 yet unspecified missions for their benefactor. It's Firefly meets Sky Captain & the World of Tomorrow meets BPRD in an aviation themed pulp weird history adventure! Ubiquity System (Secrets of the Surface World & Hollow Earth Expedition rules). Game Details No familiarity with Ubiquity/Hollow Earth Expedition required, but must be willing to learn. Veteran GM new at Ubiquity system. First session or two might be slower but Ubiquity is not too complex overall. New players are welcome, but some RPG experience preferred. Time: GMT-5 (EST) 8-11pm (time firm; day to be finalized between GM + players) Frequency: Bi-weekly at most; will work with group Start date: TBD Group size: 3-4 players Players aged 20+ preferred Skype with microphone at minimum Characters There will be an initial character creation session where we work out the player character concepts. We work together to explain how these characters came to be part of the crew and their relationship to each other. Here are some initial thoughts on suitable archetypes as spelled out in the rule books Adventurer Doctor Academic Engineer Reporter Soldier Criminal Play Style The players I'm most successful gaming with understand the following: You "win" at RPGs by having a good time and creating awesome moments for everyone. Role-playing is about knowing and doing what your character would do. Note that Ubiquity gives out style points for RP, and you'll need style points to pull off daring feats, so you'll need to enjoy role-playing your character. You get out of the game what you put into it. Tell me about the type of game you want to experience. Work with everyone to build your character. How to Apply Send me a PM or post to introduce yourself. Let me know the following: What other RPGs have you played (if any) Any experience with Ubiquity rules How familiar you are with the pulp genre A preferred character concept (optional)
Count me in dude, you know my experiences and ability to learn quickly. I'd be willing to play any character but my preferences are Adventurer, Criminal or Soldier in that order.

Hey Garrett. So far it looks like if you're not running fantasy here it's hard to get views. :/ Ugh r20 doesn't allow title edits. What the--? Sigh. Anyway, if anyone is just wanting to NOT learn a system I could also be persuaded to run this as GURPS.

I'm jonesing for some player action (I'm a GM by necessity and a player by preference, but no one seems to want to run anything). I'm a veteran HEX GM and experienced at online RP. The list of RPGs I've played would take a while to list; I'll just say that generally I avoid d20 or any of its clones after being burned out of the "kill the monsters, get loot, gain XP" mentality that seems to infest them. I fell in love with HEX specifically because it focuses on and encourages players to actively participate in actual roleplaying. I've got a modest idea for an engineer that would hopefully fit with this motley crew.

Welcome aboard Nestor! I recognize your avatar from the exile forums so it'll be good to have an expert around. I'm one of those odd ducks that prefers to run most days and I'm excited to run HEX/SotSW/Ubiquity. It seems like a great balance between rules light and detailed systems. Hey Carl! Schedule permitting, count me in! I love me some pulp aviation adventure, as you know. For the record, here's my answers to your questions: - D&D 2.0/3.0/3.5/Pathfinder/4.0; Trinity/Aberrant/Adventure/WoD/Exalted - No experience with Ubiquity. I'll start looking into it! - I've seen most of the big-name pulp-inspired movies of the last 30 years, read a few reprints of old pulp novels, and a bit of pulp-inspired comics. - I'm thinking a grizzled but good-humored soldier of fortune who's been stabbed in 12 countries and can say "this round's on me" in 12 languages. But I'm open to other options. [edited the phrase. realized it implied a different narrative than I was imagining.]
Yo! I'm this sounds totally awesome and foreign to me! I've got hella experience in many systems mainstream and mysterious(D&Ds, Dungeon World, FAE, Coins Hard Edge, Cthulhus, AFMBE, Shadowrun, more!), but Ubiquity and its near family I have not even heard of till right now! What harrow! Generically, I'm some 20 year old food nerd who needs as much tabletop action as he can get! That being said, my Thursdays and Saturdays are NO GOOD for those times. My pulpness is mostly of the Noir variant, mostly PI stuff. I'm also familiar with the Indiana Jones type and all the NEXT TIME kinda hokey. Every group needs a sawbones type cliche German doctor, right? Ziss vill only hurt aleetle, ja?

Hey Braden! Sounds fun to me, but really this is your chance to play Kitty Hawk! ;) Hi Nathan. I've had HEX/Ubiquity for a number of years but only recently have I sat down to read the system so it'll be an adventure for me too. We'll need some good Germans to balance Those Evil Ones! I have no problem playing Kitty Hawk. Would you recommend putting more emphasis on piloting or engineering?
