Semi-obfuscated dice rolls

Right now, there's two options for rolling dice: regular public rolls, and /gmroll which are only visible to the GM. I'd like to see a midpoint between these two options where the roll result is shown to everyone, but what the actual roll was is only visible to the GM. That way, if say, a dragon roasts the party with its breath weapon, they can't figure out what the average and maximum damage ranges they might take the next time, the only data point they'd have is the amount they took. Thoughts?
Hmmmm...... interesting......the only way I can think of to do something like this is to roll the damage as a gmroll then just announce it to the party. The same goes for the attack roll if you want to make sure they can't figure out its bonuses to hit and thus how often it is likely to hit them... I guess the biggest problem you might run into is that doing something like this would be adding in a variable that could be used to cheat the system a little. If you take away the ability to see how many dice are rolled and what the individual results are, you leave open the possibility of someone rolling 20d1 instead of 1d20 when they really want to make that attack......Even if it wasn't being used to cheat, it could cause some distrust between players and the gm. It is still an interesting suggestion though.
There are a couple of workarounds mentioned in this duplicate of this suggestion: 1) You can use the fact that nested inlines only give their total in the mouseover: "[[ [[1d20+3]] ]]" will show something like "10", with the mouseover showing "Rolling 10 = 10". 2) You can use the HiddenRolls script to hide the formula in a similar manner. "!hideroll -v [[1d20+3]]" will act like "[[10]]" in the global chat, but will whisper "[[{1d0+7}[1d20] +3]]" to the GM (displaying "10", but with a more detailed mouseover).
