Starting AD&D edition campaign...need 3 to 5 players

I am going to be running an adventure set in the Forgotten Realms using the 1st and 2nd edition D&D rule sets. The campaign will largely be story focused and will give the players the opportunity to really get into their characters and watch them grow. I am a DM who rewards creativity greatly and appreciates players who are either very experienced or who are new but are willing to lern and put the effort in :) I am open to Skype games as well and am in the GMT - 7 (Pacific) time zone. Ideal times for me are weekends (potentially select weekday evenings). Once I have critical mass, will pass along the story details and the like. Let me know if there are any questions I n the comments section. Hope to start this week!
Hello, I would love to join however i have never played 1st or 2nd edition, (new generation RPGer) but I to love being creative and I have played 3.5 and pathfinder a lot so maybe its an easy transfer over. Have skype, EST timezone, availible often (especially weekends)
Hey Zach, thanks for the reply! That's great news. I think the transition from 3.5 will be ok. Have you any of the materials or core books? Important for character creation and sessions. Skype an option - can't run roll20 through my iPad yet :(
Hi Darren, it's been a while since I've played 1e or 2e, but I'm definitely game. Have skype, and core books, as well. CST time zone, available fairly often - just need to understand schedule :)
Perfect! Would like to run a Skype game starting this week...will have a good amount of time Saturday though Wednesday (July 21 - 25)
I unfortunetly don't have any 1e or 2e books, any idea where i can get them fast? also, skype name is xnowx
Ok will add you. eBay or amazon has them, I believe. Also wizards is re-releasing the core books for 1e this month I believe. There may be PDFs floating around too.
Hey, Darren. I don't have any past experience with tabletop rpgs. I'm looking for a group who can take me in and teach me the basics. I can obtain any of the books necessary if you'll give me a chance to figure things out. I like to think I'm a quick learner. Anyway, thanks for the consideration.
Happy to include you in our campaign, Robert! If you (and all of those who are interested) can at least have the AD&D Player's Handbook: <a href="http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/phb.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/phb.html</a> Optional AD&D Dungeon Master's Guide: <a href="http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/dmg.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/dmg.html</a> AD&D Monster Manual: <a href="http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/monster.html" rel="nofollow">http://www.acaeum.com/ddindexes/setpages/monster.html</a>
All right. Wonderful. Keep me informed as to when we can start. I look forward to it.
This Saturday!
Can I get a count as to who is in? Post comments...I believe I have 3 thus far.
As I've implied thus far, I'm in.
The easiest way to get into AD&D without buying anything, is downloading OSRIC. It's a very faithful retro clone of 1st edition AD&D, available here: <a href="http://www.knights-n-knaves.com/osric/downloads/OSRIC.pdf" rel="nofollow">http://www.knights-n-knaves.com/osric/downloads/OSRIC.pdf</a>
Agreed.
Adobe crashes every time i try to open that file. I'm not really sure why.
No idea, but it is a big file (56 megs). Better to download it and open it locally, than to try to open it in a browser.
Robert, Zach, Michael David are you wanting to play?
Maybe, but my schedule is quite erratic. What day and time was the consensus?
I was thinking Friday and Saturday of this week...evening start. Going forward, I'd like one game session a week. Prefer weekends, but can be flexible given that we are using Skype.
Those who are interested, please add me on your Skype: ninthchapter
contact me @<a href="mailto:chronics.msgr@yahoo.com" rel="nofollow">chronics.msgr@yahoo.com</a> im an experienced 2nd edition player looking for a game i prefer Forgotten Realms but enjoy all 2nd edition

Btw im est timezone
I don't have skype im using web browser on my game console for time being
HI Mariah...sent you a pm. Hope you can still play. We have two players thus far; haven't started so invite still open.
Hi there, I've played a game or two in 2e, my preferred e, but I still don't feel totally proficient - need to get back into the grove - plus I'm new to roll20, hope that doesn't put anyone off. Wondered if you guys have started yet and, if not, what time you are running, as I'm in a different time zone.
Heya! Huge Forgotten Realms fan here. I'd love to get in on this if you are still open to players : ) Never sued Roll20 before although I am experienced with AD&D, mostly 2e : )
Hi, I would be interested in playing, but I've never played 2e before. I have been wanting to learn (mainly because one day I would like to play Spelljammer) I have been playing 3.5 for years now though. If you wouldn't mind showing me the ropes then I may be able to join.
Well met Chris, Jordan and Anthony! Very happy to introduce new players to the game. As it stands, we probably have enough players to start and would be happy to begin next week (week of July 29). I am on the Pacific Time Zone (Vancouver Canada). I'd prefer weekends starting early in the morning or later in the day, my time. If that works for you (and those reading)...please: 1) reply back with your intention to play (and being OK with the times given) 2) state which type of character you will be playing - 4th level start [happy to have a chat via Skype if character creation is something you'd like to discuss/refresh] 3) after i have taken a look, will let you know any more specific details - starting South/East of Waterdeep on the Sword Coast. Looking forward to playing with you all!
Awesome. 1) I'm ok with any evening except for Sundays as that is when I run my home D&D game. 2) Either Elven Druid or Human Wizard. 3) Cool, that's the best area haha. Also, is it 1e or 2e?
Great! Satuday (am/pm) and Sunday (am) is what we will work with for now. What about Friday evenings?! We will be using 1st edition rule set, but with THAC0 from 2e and weapon speed/initiative on d10 added in from 2nd edition. Since you are the first, please roll up either druid or wizard. Send me a private message and we can talk about background and what I'd like for your character to consider.
1) Im good any day except wednesdays & sundays 2) Ill be Playing a Grey Elf Multi classed, Rgr/Mage/Cleric, A follower of the Goddess Idun, Id like tp take the Elven handbook bladesinger kit. If theres any questions or concerns let me know asap Also can any method of die roll listed in the phb be used in char gen?
I would love to play. I started playing AD&D 1st edition in 1981, but I only played a little 2nd edition. I like to play magic users.
I am willing to do a Skype character roll session if that is of interest. We will be using the 4d6 - and throw away one - method. I also am allowing Unearthered Arcana options (secondary skills, Comliness, etc).
I think I need to look more into AD&D before I try and play.
Wait so when is this happening? I prefer Friday or Saturday night if it makes a difference. Also, how do you want our character sheets?
Maybe that skype character roll session would be useful. We could get all of the questions out of the road quickly. It will just need us to arrange a time.
@Albert - that's great. Hope you are able to play! @Jordan - I can do Saturday night if you'd like (was contemplating Saturday around 10am PST as well). If you have character sheets, I'd like them sent to me in pdf form (prefer the old school/1e sheets) or if you don't have access, feel free to send in readable format through email. @Chris - roll session would be a good idea and would be happy to. To all interested players - please add me on Skype 'ninthchapter' and message me your availability. If I have three or more (players and hopefully, backgrounds/sheets) by end of day, we'll go forward with a roll session on Saturday (tomorrow).
Tomorrow (Saturday night) Pacific time work for everyone for an intro to the campaign? Skype me if so.
Cool. This shit is editable on a computer so might be god to use. <a href="http://www.dragonsfoot.org/php4/archive.php?sectioninit=CS&fileid=335&watchfile=0" rel="nofollow">http://www.dragonsfoot.org/php4/archive.php?sectioninit=CS&fileid=335&watchfile=0</a>
Good idea. Dragonsfoot has a lot of resources to use.
Also, I definitely meant to say "sheet" and ended up saying "shit" somehow. I guess that's what 1am does to you after a long day of work.
lol, you are forgiven. Nice find btw. Rough time you want us to get online?
Going to be on Skype tonight between 10 and 11pm pst
Hey, just a thought. I might have to rearrange my internal clock and get up earlier if we are going to be playing late nights. Since I'm on BST right now, 10pm PST is 7am for me! Two possible character backgrounds planned out anyhow, a main and a backup, just need to get the char sheet stuff sorted, stats, feats and what have you. I'd rather make sure I've got that as the DM needs it rather than bump into a problem at game-start.
Going to not be a late night campaign...tonight is an exception. just wanted to chat about it. Probably will be closer to midnight pacific time. Hope everyone is on.
Hey, guys. Just wondering what's happening on this front, it's gone so quiet?
