Date: 10th Reaping, 609 CY Attendance: Thruskk, Wulrakas, Virgil, Jericho ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recap: Two weeks since the incident with Ash Reyner, and still no leads on Skaulson. Thruskk has taken to studying to Common tongue in more depth, and his ability to speak the language has increased substantially; in addition, he's had an Elven Greatsword forged, and he has studied battle tactics in Mayor Milner's study as well. Wulrakas has crafted four wooden trinkets. Virgil has tried to uncover some information about his past. Clifton, meanwhile, has gone missing. Thruskk awakens to breakfast set on the table of the Marlgrovian Home. There's also two notes -- one from Ash and another from a woman named Diana . As Thruskk and Wulrakas eat their breakfast, there's a knock on the door, and in steps Jericho. He explains his absence vaguely before helping himself to some of the breakfast. Virgil remains fast asleep. Another knock and Krax enters, helping himself to breakfast as well. He's brought a book Clifton was seeking -- "The White Paladins" -- and he's curious about Clifton's absence as well. The group ultimately decides to follow the lead on Diana's note, and they set out once Virgil is up. They follow the Forest Road until they reach a large stone -- a noted landmark on a crude map drawn on the back of Diana's note -- and eventually they come across what appears to be a newly-built log cabin. There's smoke from the chimney but no one seems home; entering and investigating confirms this. Eventually Jericho finds that a nearby lamp can be pulled down, which triggers a mechanism to open a hidden passage. This leads to a dimly-lit passageway and a bridge over a pool of acid. They cross the bridge only to find a door on the other side. Opening it reveals a laboratory of sorts, with a small girl next to a caged half-ogre nearby. Jericho tries to grapple the girl but she slips from his grasp. Thruskk and Jericho then realize that the half-ogre is the same one they tricked when hunting the Beast of Marlgrove. They learn he's being experimented on by the girl -- Gelly's -- mother, and that it pertains to lycanthropy. Suddenly Wulrakas hears movement behind him; Virgil is attacked, but a reactionary shield spell blocks a purple-skinned old hag's claws from scratching his flesh. The hag vanishes again, and the subterrean structure begins to collapse. They escape with the girl thrown over Jericho's shoulder. Soon the cabin collapses in on itself, leaving a smoldering pit where the structure once was. The hag is no where to be found, and Oggie, the half-ogre, is presumed dead. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Experience: Clifton – 1,000 XP (6,950 XP total) LEVEL UP (5) Jericho – 1,000 XP (2,995 XP total) LEVEL UP (4) Thruskk – 1,000 XP (6,650 XP total) LEVEL UP (5) Wulrakas - 1,000 XP (6,250 XP total) Virgil - 1,000 XP (5,850 XP total) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Loot: None. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Plotspiration: Thruskk -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Notes: Lots of mistakes on my end -- shoehorned in an unnecessary battle, lots of mediocre dialogue from the NPCs, etc. No real excuse other than "can't make it good every time."
