Background images

On some campaign pages, the high-resolution animated background image puts a huge strain on my computer, causing it to experience a huge amount of lag--so much that I can't even look at the campaign in question and have to close the tab. My computer has 8GB of Ram, a decent i5 processor and an excellent video card. It's only really a problem when I have two tabs open and they both feature the same background. It's worth looking into though, because it makes certain portions of the website unusable. Here's an example of the background I'm talking about:

It is for this reason that I have avoided adding animated backgrounds to my campaigns. However, I have noticed that the problem is reduced or eliminated by reducing the size of my window. If you are having problems participating in the game because the campaign pages are slowing your computer to a crawl, try shrinking the window size. (And asking your GM to remove the background image.)

Rya, it's an issue with your high screen resolution vs your computer's resources. As Brian suggested reducing the size of the window will help. Also, you should suggest to your GM to remove the background since it so negatively effects the performance of the site for your computer. In the future we'll look into ways of optimizing the performance of the animated backgrounds.
