Maybe GURPS Fallout Inspired Game

I've been wanting to do a post apocalyptic game using the GURPS system. Looking to see if anyone would be interested. Players would make characters that would live happen to be forced together to survive. I want to prevent players from preparing for the events too well and as such will reveal the story after characters are made but this campaign will have an emphasis on surviving in a wasteland and fighting for your life. The setting is very inspired by the fallout universe and I'm trying to make the game have a kind of video game realism style. It will be on the west coast of the USA and will be around year 2200, around 200 years after the nuclear catastrophe that caused the apocalypse. Guns are still available but there isn't enough ammo being produced to make them very readily usable. As such melee weapons have come back as the best form of combat and self defense for an amount of the population. There will be energy weapons, power armor, cybernetics, etc. available to some very small groups that were able to maintain such technology after the war and they are usually very protective of their technology. Mutants will exist and possibly be playable. I can primarily play on Tuesdays and live in EST. This game will be partially experimental as it is my second time running GURPS and as such I'd be looking for players that are willing to work through problems, are friendly, and flexible. People who are new to GURPS are welcome. I am hoping to gather 4-6 people who are willing to play this with me. I also tend to be more easy going about how everything works rules wise and prefer to simply have fun. Since the setting is being developed players will have a lot of flexibility in character design. If you are familiar with GURPS characters will be 200 points with -50 points allowed in disadvantages. For people not familiar this is considered high, an amount of points an average fantasy adventurer would have. I have made pre-gen examples for several characters ranging from a caravaneer to a post apocalyptic ronin. I will probably be using the High Tech and Low Tech book mainly but will be dipping into a few others like Ultra Tech for certain rules and abilities. Full planned book list at the moment: Basic Set, High Tech, Low Tech, Tactical Shooting, Ultra Tech, Martial Arts, Power Ups 5 - Impulse Buys.
Oh god. Yes. Please. (In slightly more useful terms, I'd be very interested. I'm GMT+1, but have "esoteric" sleeping patterns, an entirely free schedule, and I love GURPS so so much. I've some experience with the Fallout verse, and I adore post-apoc settings. I am so up for this.)

Glad to see someone has this itch other than me. I'd probably shoot for Tuesday, early Sunday(before noon), or late Saturday/Sunday(like 8:30 PM). Anyway Given that I can find about 3 more players this game is a go.
Yeah I'm also extremely interested and I have another nerd that has been searching for a Fallout game.
I'm sure that you probably have more than enough experience but just in case,be careful with using UT weapons and armour -- the damage and damage resistance bloats massively at higher TL, damage bloating faster in most cases. either way, good luck with the game and have fun guys :)
Yeah we're gonna have to watch out for that. Ultra-Tech is... not the best, as books go. Still, given how rare that kind of thing will probably be, it's probably going to be okay.

i played something similar a while back. ultra tech was fine, but i thin k we ended up using both a ton of 3rd ed books, as-well as the old fallout conversions from FO1 and 2. Fallout was actually heavily inspired by gurps so the video game mechanics convert over really well. i don't think there is any problem with gattling lazers being auto kills if you aren't in powered armor. i played a ghoul, who befor the fall of the world was a frank sanatra-style crooner. i never got to really play him though so i'd only be too down to try it again. are you familiar with the entirety of the fallout extended universe? you said west coast, will we be dealing with the new California republic? which chapters of the brotherhood os steel would currently exist? or is the setting just a reflection of fallout? (also high is relative. GURPS is designed to handle any point values i've played thousand point games and i've played 10 point games. 200 is around what is most common i see a lot between 150 and 300. part of what causes this discrepancy is that point values change between editions, and people disagree about what would be a good approximation. there just isn't one, because costs no-longer increase exponentially. my experience for how far 250 points [adds plus disads] goes, is that we effectively have enough to build non-star x-men. well rounded team-memebesrs with one or two powerful abilities.) Edit: also, does this mean that sentient deathclaws do or do not exists in your setting, as they were exterminated in FO2, leaving only non-sentiaont death-claws for fallout 3 and fallout vegas. also what will be the policy on fallout guest appearnces, like for example Harold, who has appeard in every game (save vegas, though i believe he is still mentioned in it).

Kalman S. said: [A lot of stuff, mostly about Fallout] I think it's worth pointing out that he said 'inspired by', on multiple occasions, so the game probably won't contain that many things which are outright Fallout intellectual property (or so I assume, anyhow).

What I meant by inspired by is that much of the fallout universe will be there in all but name and some minor tweaks. The Circle of Steel, Old America, Ect. The biggest changes will probably be the map and the availability of equipment. Laser weapons will be very rare and powerful weapons rather than being a mid-level gun equivalent. Also I'm trying to make ammo scarce, probably going to multiply all gun costs by 2 and ammo costs by 8 on top of the doubling for high TL(the general TL has reverted to 6-7 in most of the world). The Republic will exist, as well as raiders and the Kingdom(a take on the legion, they took inspiration from feudal examples rather than roman ones so knights and samurai are things that exist.). The local Circle of Steel is going to be much like the purist Brotherhood types, they want technology and are willing to be civil and trade but are equally willing to suit up and take it, though their numbers are too small to be a major threat to most other groups. Haven't put much thought into deathclaws or cameos honestly. Was thinking 200 point buy with racial lenses that don't count against disadvantages unless they are totaled up to be a net disadvantage.
I'm in. i want to play a Ghoul named Abraham Martin jr. before the fall he had a voice that could charm an angel. i'll want an exact date so i can talk to you about what has happend to him between then and now. that is assuming you like the idea.

Hmm, this seems most interesting. The Fallout world has a lot of potential for a good survival game. Before I decide to commit to this, I would like to know in which time zone this will be played. I am in CST (GMT -5). Also, 3ed or 4ed?
4e and the times that are shooting around are: anytime tuesday, after 9:00PM Saturday, and late or early(avoiding the 3:00-7:00 area). All of this in EST.
Still have room for 2-3 people. We have settled on the time of 10:00AM-2:00PM EST Sundays.
