Please Support Stargate RPG

Hey all, I just joined this site and also have recently bought the Stargate RPG but I have noticed that in the public profile the "enjoys playing" and "Seeks groups for" fields do not let you put whatever you want (ie it is constrained by the drop down list of games so you can't just write anything willy nilly). I've also noticed that the site does not support the game that Stargate RPG is based off of, Spycraft, either. For these reasons, I am asking for official support of the Stargate RPG as I've already got 2 people and myself wanting to play it and I do not know how to proceed with hosting this game on this site

The Looking For Group lists only a handful of the most popular RPGs, not every system ever made - however, that doesn't hinder you from playing it at all. Roll20 is completely system agnostic. You can run almost any rules system on it. If you have specific questions about how features would work for the Stargate RPG please do ask. The community here is very resourceful and helpful. Welcome to Roll20! :)

Roll20 is just the tabletop you put stuff on. I don't know what you mean by "the site does not support" Spycraft/Stargate RPGs. There's character sheets, but those are made for the community by the community. Feel free to pop over to the Character Sheets forum and ask for someone to write up sheets for the systems ^_^ If you elaborate here on what you mean or need by way of 'support', I'm sure we can help out in one way or another.

Here are some tips related to what you're asking about. (1) In your Player Profile (Enjoys Playing, Seeks Group For) and also if you list the game in LFG engine, use the tag "Other Games" . If you consider it to be a story game, another generalized tag you can choose in the drop-downs is "Story Games" , and if it's a game inspired by 1970s-1980s then another tag to use is "Old School Revival" . (I don't honestly know if your game of choice is Story or OSR, that's up to you to find out or decide.) The more people who list OTHER GAMES in your profile, I think that helps with Roll20 looking into what games those might be, to decide what games to promote up the tag list next. Roll20 does a quarterly analysis & industry report that talks about what percentage of people are playing various titles on this site. On the report they have taken to renaming this category "Unlisted games" (to distinguish from "Other Listed Games"), and Unlisted Games is always a minority but growing category ( 6% of games representing more than 1700 campaigns on Roll20 at the time of Q4 2014 report ). (2) Second tip -- simply write the game titles and familiar terminology in both your personal Bio (which is a free form text box) and, importantly, on your Campaign Description which appears if you list your game offering in LFG. When searching the LFG search engine, feel free to type any Game Titles or familiar keywords in the "Matching Keywords" field. This is the primary way to find game offerings of any games that don't have an official tag. Words like Stargate or Spycraft are unique enough that you can easily find them in Matching Keywords search, if it's been mentioned among the current game pitch offerings. The matching keyword field searches words used in your Campaign Description, only if the campaign is active in the Looking For Group engine. It doesn't show people who are playing the game, but not looking for players. (3) Last suggestion, try the LFG sub-forum on the site, and use the Forum's search bar to look for other people who may have mentioned Stargate or Spycraft titles. Again, keyword search, and the difference here is it will still show you older listings even if they have stopped looking for group.
What is the difference between story and osr?

Story would be something like Universalis or Dresden Files. They tend to be light on hard rules with players contributing a significant portion of the story, and their actions largely revolve around describing what happens. Old School Revival are any of a number of dice heavy, rules based games that recapture the feel of classic RPGs from the 1970s/80s. Castles and Crusaders, hackmaster (to some degree). Stargate would probably be just Other. That's where I'd put SpyCraft as well.
