Map-making layers

Different layers for map making would be helpful. I'm aware of the 3 current layers, but I feel like I often need more. I would love to make a floor layer, then a wall layer, then lock those 2 as I edit my map. It would greatly help anyone who is putting together maps of their own.
I don't really see the point. If you put the floor on a layer, then put the walls on another layer and lock them together, how is it different than if put your floor on the map layer, then put the wall in place above it on the same layer. The result shall look exactly the same, or am I missing something?

Also, getting the z-values for everything to be just the way I want it gets complicated after more than a few objects. Layers would simplify this.
Ok, I understand better. I can see myself a few uses for different layers, but I had not really understood your exemple (I was not thinking about assembling a map from a lot of elements).

I'm not quite the artist, so I'm attempting to get a little bit of originality in my maps my coming walls, floors, tables, etc. into one collage of sorts. :)
+1 :) Dynamic customizable layers would not only make preparing maps in advance easier, but also allow some nifty things to pull off during game. For example, imagine an old abandoned haunted estate where the PCs are forced to stay during a heavy storm. The players walk around and explore the estate and everything seems fine. Then the clock turns to midnight and suddenly blood and corpses appear everywhere! If we had layers, we could prepare the estate in its "normal" state and prepare a separate, not yet visible, layer with all the blood/corpse tiles. During game we could simply toggle the blood layer's visibility and tada, instant carnage. :D
Simply adding something like map: background, breakable objects and moveable objects. would indeed be quite useful for my campaigns as well.
Couldn't those latter two just be considered tokens?
I suppose, not if there are too many. It would become difficult to select a group of characters without taking the chairs with them.
Layers would be very nice to have concealed traps or secret doors off on their own layers to be revealed to the players with a couple of clicks when they find them (or set them off).
I put my secret doors and trap on the GM layer and then switch them to the viewable layer as needed.
Couldn't those latter two just be considered tokens? They would not be considered tokens. Tokens are things that you move around to represent a character, monster or NPC. What he is talking about is just bodies and blood lying on the ground. They would be stationary (I am guessing) through most of the game. If you were to build this now, it would be a map element that you'd have to put into the GM layer.
Couldn't those latter two just be considered tokens? ... would be a map element that you'd have to put into the GM layer. Yes, that works perfectly that way for objects. They are invisible whilst on the GM layer and part of the map after. And still moveable later if needed.
