I'm temporarily opening up registration for this campaign, our participation got a bit high for a few months and we were running 12 to 15 people groups; however with the addition of a second weekly game in the campaign participation has dropped into the 6-8 player range. The party is of all levels, and you can expect to reach nearly level 3 within your first session. Level 10 is generally considered the maximum, although for human race characters there is no level cap. Our regular games are usually on Wednesday, however we also have an alternate game run by a different DM on Fridays. This is a campaign world full of fantasy adventure. The world is fairly low-fantasy; elves, dwarves, hobbits, and other creatures of fantasy are mostly enemies of mankind, and eke out an their existence at the borders of civilization. Nearly all adventures will involve some amount of element of "weird fantasy". Currently the group in my sessions are delving into the Palace of the Vampire Queen, set high in the mountains of Baalor. They have reached the third floor of this dungeon, but they have taken out alot of time in the past few months to embark on other related adventures in different dungeons. Recently they took over a pirate base on the island and began fortifying it into a mountain keep. Nearly every week they visit the nearby city of Strongmoor and brave the dangers of the city so they may visit the different shopkeepers, temples, and wizard of the area. The Barbarian Kingdoms, of which Strongmoor is part of, war with each other and more recently the arising threat of the Vampire Cults. At least one of my players has temporarily retired from adventuring and is currently serving with the Kingdom army dealing with such threats. That guy was recently knighted and given command of 20 men at one of the forts. Basically this campaign world is a living and breathing adventure that grows with player input. The more you explore, the more detailed and fleshed out the world becomes. As adventurers you may shape the destiny of entire kingdoms, or perhaps even an entire civilization. This game is not about the backstory you bring to it, it's about what actions you take and how that shapes your character. A bit about D&D 0e/BECMI, and the Planet Eris Campaign: The Planet Eris Campaign was started by a guy named Jimm Johnson in Austin TX and after a few years of running games in the area, a group of about 5 to 10 players decided to run their own modules with their own groups. I was one of those players, but instead of just setting up a game in Austin I'm bringing the experience to you and the rest of the world. A few differences between D&D 0e and D&D 3.5/Pathfinder D&D 0e is about the DM receiving guidance on making rulings rather than about being forced into a meticulous computer simulation of mechanics. Imagination is a large part of D&D 0e; much of the movement and combat is abstract descriptions with some visual representation of approximate positions. Most of the time you don't see the map. D&D 0e relies on player skill rather than character skill checks. Very few things limit the actions your character may perform in OD&D. Difficulty is not always fair in D&D 0e. Groups may encounter deadly creatures, traps, etc; if they don't properly recognize these things as deadly threats, there is a chance that the entire party may be slain. The rule of a superior (OD&D) DM is NOT to tell a story to his or her players. The DM need only provide an interesting and challenging environment for the players to explore and then administer that environment totally impartially. Superior players will be able to create a character-driven, interactive story from these raw materials, and neither the players nor the GM can tell where the story is headed. OD&D is not about creating a Superman; its about creating a Batman. If these things interest you, you can visit the campaign or join. If you decide you do not want to play anymore, please drop from the game so that I can ensure we have an active pool of players at all times.
