Forum dice rolling support

Hi all, I think it would be ace if we could include support (preferably using the same syntax as the main game) for dice rolling in the forums (e.g. of the campaigns themselves). Our gaming group can't get together all at the same time as often as we'd like, and being able to roll dice and play-by-mail asynchronously in between sessions would be fantastic. Not sure how many other people would like to see this though?

It sounds like a neat idea. Something that seems related, you can actually use the Roll20 dice-roller on Reddit (which is basically, another forum). It seems like something that could be done. I'm in agreement with you, in wanting some Campaign Forum improvements to make asynchronous gaming, campaign journaling, and "play by post" gaming better. Of course you know your Players can go into the Tabletop anytime (GM doesn't have to be there), so in theory your players can still go type & roll in the game chat, and you can check it later. Still, would be very nice to roll and write long-form paragraphs on the Forum, for postings of a length that doesn't fit neatly in the chat box.
I also think this is a great idea. Our group gets together once a week and we like to PBP (Play by Post) between sessions. It would be great to have the dice roller available in the forum post as a button. I've implemented a dice roller before as a phpbb plug-in. It wasn't too hard to get the dice to roll. It got tricky when users wanted to edit their posts, or if you wanted to make rolls permanent to prevent cheating and re-rolls. Permissions got tricky.
