Importing a background Imge, all good. is it possible to draw up the lighting layer in a different program, ie gimp/photoshop, and then import it, and if that is possible, is it possible to import multi layer images, ie iort a gimp/photoshop image which has one layer with all the background drawn in, with a second layer with all the lines to block line of sight etc.

Hi Brendon. While you can use external programs like Gimp and Photoshop to create your own images an import them into roll20, I believe you have to use roll20's built-in tools to create the dynamic lighting/restrictive barriers lines. Roll20 doesn't support multi-layer images currently... jpg, gif, and png are the only formats that can be imported. There is an API script(Mentor level feature), [Script] Walls - SVG Path importer for dynamic lighting. -- Revisited that allows you to save SVG data from an external image that can then be imported into roll20 to automatically create the DL lines for you. Another API script that might work [Script] Room management - dynamic lighting and doors that can be toggled These would require a Mentor level subscription. Well worth it IMO.

The Walls API script uses a path exported from GIMP. I've not really had much interest in it, but let me know if you'd like more info!
