This Wednesday Feb 25: Optional. Player meeting if you can join. Read below for caveats. Let me know if you are or aren't coming, if you can? I've got the "Official" Next Game Time (on campaign home page) set for the following Wednesday March 4 . It's going to be loose for this Wednesday Feb 25, because of a couple different reasons. Main reason honestly is I've been socked-in ice and snow almost every day of the past week (no driving), so personally I'm in a situation where I need to get out and do work if the roads are clear. On the other hand, if it's like today, Wednesday may be another snow-day anyway and in that case there's nothing better than playing some D&D. Secondary reason is we're a bit short-staffed on Players, and I am working on that (recruiting, finding the right people, and will be working on character creation when some good applicants raise their hand). Jack has been taking a bit of time away and I hope he'll be able to rejoin the campaign soon. His place is saved at the table. He could be back this week, or next. Gray should be playing this Wednesday (with the exception noted above, if the DM can't make it). Patrick I would really like to have you, at least join for part, if possible. I do understand if you need to plan groceries and errands instead, in light of the fact this is an optional session without the full group. Patrick & Gray, I already have (somewhat) planned for a way to run the 2 characters of Mithros and the Kenku , in a dual session, so don't worry, there will be an adventure with Roleplaying and Combat and Prologue story (clues and hooks for the game), that involves Mithros and Luka and the Kenku , if both players are present. Mithros involvement might be on a somewhat dream-vision-luminous cloud level (associated to the moonbow deity), but we will talk about that in-game if it occurs. On the other hand if Pat can't attend, that's ok and I will run the pre-adventure with Gray on that day. Gray, the Kenku faces some things along your route flying along the coast. There is the blood hawk encounter that we played through before, right, and then some piles of orc heads I think you saw. A few other things happened along the way that I want to replay with you. When you pass the Old Fort on the coast there are some flying menaces that you might see or encounter depending on the time you go & where you are looking. Later when you pass the Abandoned Mansion there is, first of all the one dark cloud and crack of thunder that you saw along this part of the coast, and second there is also a flying animal encounter there which I'll save to tell you in the game. Just some notes to spur the fact that there are some tidbits of adventures awaiting you, even though we are still short of a Full Party. Soon we can begin investigating these clues that lead to modules & tie in with later/greater adventure hooks.
Gold, this sounds great in general. It looks like I am going to be on the road myself Wed/Thu/Fri this week. This is a last minute thing that has come up for me and I apologize for it. I may be able to play from the road, but I can't promise 100% that I will be able to. I will know more in a couple of hours and will let you know as soon as I do, but I wanted to let you know the situation as soon as I could.
My latest update -- I will be on the road Wed, but will hopefully have a decent internet connection Wed night, so should be able to play if you guys are up for it.
It looks right now like I should be able to make it on Wednesday just fine.

Ok, good deal. Like I said this Wednesday remains --- tentative but scheduled, but optional, but planning for Gray & Pat & the DM. I certainly have some prologue adventures for the Kenku lined up, I think I have some adventure that would make a game day for Kenku + Mithros n Luka ... and I can probably run Mithros & Luka alone (I have an idea for that), if Gray's travel prevents him from joining. A new player --- might or might not be here by this Wednesday. Probably not. If they are here then it's their opportunity to meet some of the other PC's and start to roll their PC. Myself --- I'm going to confirm for you guys as soon as I know 100% --- right now it's looking about 50/50. 50% chance of another Winter Storm coming through with new snow Wednesday morning (thus preventing me from driving, and I'll be on the game). The meteorologist says this is coming, but they could be wrong, or it might bypass my area. 40% chance of the roads drying up & I would get called for work that's been missed during the recent ice-storm (We've had about 5 snow-days in the last week). If that happens I will have to call-off the game for this week, and resume next week. 10% chance of me getting any work obligations performed early in the morning pre-game, and be back home in time for game. (No snow but still game.) TIMES!!! Forgot to address game time before. Assuming I can play on Wednesday, I'll make the entire time slot open starting at Noon my time (which is when Pat is usually able to join). Gray will just show up at the soonest he can, even if that is later like 2 or 2:30 my time (Central USA).
Sounds good. It's possible that I'll be able to join earlier than my usual time. How long are you thinking of playing for?

This would be 1.5 to 2 hours of playing, with 30 minutes of chit-chat included or not included. Note 1: Assuming I'm online and not having a work conflict (as mentioned above), I'm happy to stay online this Wednesday from Noon to 4:30 my time for a window. This way I can catch any Players who want to come earlier, or later, within the range. Note 2: I would normally like to have 3-4 hour playing sessions in the future when this thing is rolling steady. Since tomorrow is short-staff of players, somewhat seat-of-pants on DM prep due to uncertainty, still doing recruiting, and still in prologue phase of the game, for these reasons I think 1.5 hours of solid playing is enough to do some RP, fight 1 or 2 encounters, and advance the story.

STATUS: The world is open. The dungeon master is IN. It's snowing again. I can't go anywhere and I'm here to run adventures. Players please enter the game room when you can. Pat's there now and Gray will be coming along later.
Guys -- I've just had a horrible day of traffic. 6.5 hour drive took 8 hours. And I had a 3 hour ferry before that ... been up since 5AM and I have a stonking headache. Anyway, I just got to my hotel and I'm getting something to eat. After that I will either pop into the game room and say hi or (more likely) I will just crash out. Sorry I don't have more energy/time for today's game, I was really hoping to. But since this session was somewhat more of a casual one, hopefully it won't be too much of a problem for you guys.

Alright, got the message. Pat is playing solo at the moment, Mithros is going on an adventure involving "wee folk" and a font of holy fishwater in the forest, and a hunchback monk. Would love to have Gray & Jack join in, but in your absence we will continue for another hour to hour-and-a-half and then wrap up for this week. Do pop-in if you're online. Feel free. Let's plan for a group adventure next week on Wednesday, ok?
OK, cool, thanks Gold. The "wee" adventure sounds great. I am definitely planning for next Wednesday (fingers crossed and touch wood that nothing more crops up ...)

Regarding last session: Yes, I thought it was fun, and Pat said he had fun. We completed a mini-adventure, which ties in with some clues about greater adventures. ( Mithros should return to the steeple church in the town & speak to his Hunchback Monk contact again, the guy who waters the houseplants, for the followup). I'm still working out how I'm going to run the Experience Points (XP / Leveling), and the Story / Journal / weekly recaps . Those are supposed to be integral aspects of the campaign but they're just working in the back of my mind right now. I'll start active threads for Journals and XP at some point in the near-future of the campaign. For now I'm keeping track of basic XP progress. Your PC can gain experience for anything participatory you do in this campaign including roleplaying, attendance, finding treasure, defeating monsters, solving mysteries, finding traps, completing puzzles, writing journals, posting pictures, accepting quests, interacting. Each player should keep at-least brief notes on what you encountered or accomplished in-game so that you can retell it later when given the opportunity. I emphasize that short notes are equally acceptable as long-form journals in a story or novella style. Don't feel pressured to type a lot if you don't want to ( Pat ) but please do keep a running list of the basic encounters you had (such as, in Mithros ' case this past week, make note of: Hunchback Monk watering house plants at the Greek steeple church that rings the bell daily, magical pool of water with minnows swimming in it, Green Dragon?, Pixies ). UPDATES for This Wednesday March 4. 1. Have not heard from Jack. Please come back, Jack! He checked-in with me on missing 2 sessions ago, but no notification the past week. The Players roster is presently down to focusing on Jack, Patrick, Gray . It's a nice core group of 3 players with really cool PC's. I know that he really wanted to play this campaign. Best we can do is just make an open-door and hope he checks back in soon. 2. I'm working in the background on recruiting more players (and that becomes all-the-more important if we lose Anariel , again I'm holding out hope that Jack will rejoin us soon and make a core trio). New players would probably be coming in the longer-term, not attending this Wednesday. 3. This Wednesday's game session time is scheduled for the later slot (2:05 PM Central USA). This was based on Gray's time slot availability and is the expected time I've had posted for this week (not a change). I figure the start time is around 3PM Eastern ( Pat ), 8PM ( Gray & Jack ), if I've got my zones in order. The game time & day for future weeks is still changeable and up for discussion. 4. This Wednesday's session will focus around Gray's PC, the Kenku , as described earlier. It's what I planned originally for last week. If you recall what I mentioned before, the adventure is built to accommodate Mithros , Luka , and Anariel -- if Pat and Jack can attend. However I'm also preparing to run the adventure for Gray alone, or any combination of our Players who could attend. I'm able to adjust on that account. The point is letting the other Players know that you're encouraged to attend, you are expected to attend (unless you Post otherwise), and you won't be sat-there with nothing to do if you attend, roleplay, and take an interest in Gray's Kenku . 5. If anyone feels they need to miss the session this week (for any personal reason you don't need to explain the reason), just post here and let the group know, in advance if possible. Please do not miss the session on the basis of the adventure being focused on Gray's PC. Everyone should take an interest in the other characters and participate in the roleplaying aspects, that's important for the development of this campaign and for your character's budding relationships. Also it should go without saying that Players in this won't miss attending on the basis of choosing to play a different game that overlaps or conflicts with your availability. Any legit personal reason is fine though, I understand things come up. 6. The game is 90% set to run this Wednesday, 10% chance of cancellation due to work & weather related. The weather --- still terrible winter weather events, traffic havoc across my region. My work schedules are all thrown off. On Wednesday I'm scheduled to travel (driving) for work BOTH before & after our game session. I've cleared out the time where I should be in my office, with privacy & wifi, for the game session time. If anything comes up with weather delays, I will let you know as soon as possible. Just expect that there is a small chance I'd have to cancel. Note that winter weather should be finished soon in my region, and this issue shouldn't come up again for a year.
Sounds good, Gold. I am looking forward to it and certainly hope that Pat and Jack will be able to join. Will do my best to be there at 8PM GMT (I am dependent on my wife for this, but all should be fine.)

I completed my travel home and made it in time to get ready for the game session. The game will run today. If we have the 3 players expected we will begin a full party adventure ( Gray, Pat, Jack ).. If one of the 3 is missing we will do a duo adventure that is in the prologue of the campaign and gives you clues/origins/hints about the party adventures that are available nearby. Game time is scheduled to begin 30 minutes from now (as it's counting down on the campaign page). I'm personally not in a hurry to start as I've just gotten in from traveling on rainy roads. Casual beginning with some chit-chat and having tea for the first 15-30 minutes is Ok. Go ahead and turn on the game-table & Skype when you're available, and we'll start a chat at the top of the hour (30 minutes from now).
I'll be there. If you are starting slowly then I might join at 8.15 rather than 8.05. My wife is on a conference call and I'm going to have to pull her off it. (I'm minding the kids right now).
But once I join in I'll be ready to get going pretty quickly.
Scratch that, she finished her call, I should be there at 8.05 and ready to get going as soon as you all are. FYI I might not be able to go too late tonight.
I'm sorry I didn't make it today - I got a call for an appointment at 2pm EST while I was doing stuff around town, then that ran late. Hope you had a good time!
