Player Looking join a Stars Without Number game.

Hi, im a forever DM and one of the shows i really enjoy is Swan Song on youtube. Its a Stars WithoutNumber game. I also DM my own Stars Without Number game right now once a week and it is quite fun. I kind of wish to be a player though. If anyone has a game running and needs or wants one more player i would love to play. My skype is treetop_san and i have multiple ideas for characters that i would like to play so i can fill whatever role in a group.
Anyone? I can help you roll the sector up if you want. There are some useful tools that reduce the workload down to almost nothing <a href="http://swn.emichron.com/" rel="nofollow">http://swn.emichron.com/</a> This generates a sector for you. Click the star and then click an empty sector to move it. When you have a ector you like click download sector and it saves it to an HTML file and uses an extension called TiddlyWiki to compile it into the HTML file. <a href="https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tid" rel="nofollow">https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/addon/tid</a>... That is an extension for firefox that enables you to use TiddlyWiki and save changes. It auto rolls the sector and planets for you. You can use the HTML file to track things by using it like a note pad and editing the "Tiddlers" below is an example ---- Atmosphere Breathable mix Temperature Cold Biosphere Human-miscible biosphere Population Alien civilization Tech Level Tech Level 3. 20th-century technology. Tags Exchange Consulate, Local Tech Enemies Corrupt Exchange official, Indebted native who thinks the players are Exchange agents, Exchange official dunning the players for debts incurred; Keeper of the tech, Offworld industrialist, Automated defenses that suddenly come alive, Native alien mentors Friends Consul in need of offworld help, Local banker seeking to hurt his competition, Exchange diplomat; Curious offworld scientist, Eager tech buyer, Native in need of technical help Complications The local Consulate has been corrupted, the Consulate is cut off from its funds, A powerful debtor refuses to pay; The tech is unreliable, The tech only works on this world, The tech has poorly-understood side effects, The tech is alien in nature. Places Consulate meeting chamber, Meeting site between fractious disputants, Exchange vault; Alien factory, Lethal R&D center, Tech brokerage vault Things Exchange vault codes, Wealth hidden to conceal it from a bankruptcy judgment, Location of forgotten vault; The tech itself, An unclaimed payment for a large shipment, The secret blueprints for its construction, An ancient alien R&D database --- The "Tags" of Local Tech and Exchange Consulate are what determines the Enemies, friends, complications, ect. An example on how to use this to make a story. A local bank wants to increase its market share, so it hires you to gather evidence on a Corrupt Exchange Offcial who is running their own branch with corrupt practices. While gathering evidence the Consulate you work for has their funds cut off by those above, which leads the party to beleive that the leadership is corrupted. If the leadership is corrupted then evidence of it would have to be hidden away in the Main Vault, so you need to gather the Thing "Exchange vault codes" from the place "consulate meeting chamber" That is enough of a storyline to start with that you could run an entire campaign just on THAT and its all from random tags. If any DMs out there want to run Stars Without Number i would be happy to teach you how to use TiddlyWiki. I really, REALLY want to play a Telekinetic Criminal and Hacker.
Wow, those are some very useful tools to get the skeleton of a SWN sector going, bookmarking for sure... While SWN is something I've contemplated running, since it fits a lot of my gaming preferences...I can't responsibly run/prep other campaign at the present time, as I'm running a local module D&D game and in the middle of starting up a sandbox D&D game. I *might* be able to squeeze in a SWN game as a player, however, if it helps to demonstrate interest. And really I'd prefer to experience the system from the player side before trying it from the GM side if possible.
cool, so thats 2 players, anyone else? anyone already running a game and want 1 more?
i'd be interested in playing if this goes that far. Europe gmt+1 timezone though i have a lot of free time.
awesome. what we really need though is a dm now.
I haven't run a game of this before but would be willing to try if people are okay with GMT+1 evenings.
I played SWN before and would love to play again depending on the schedule. I'm GMT+1

If you get a game going I am totally in Alex. I am GMT+1 also. Most week night after 20 works for me.

Awesome. I will dive into the sector generation and see what kind of world I can cook up for a group then. I tend to favour a narrative approach to fights and encounters with descriptive writing. And am totally down with running a sandbox for a proactive group to adventure in. The group coming together on some far flung planet to do an odd job to get them started sound good? Once a week on Wednesdays at 20.00 GMT+1 sound okay?
Wednesdays at that time would be great for me. would love to play a psychic :3 what kind of group size are we looking for here? i've heard this system can work quite well with more than 4 players thought it could get chaotic for the DM.
3-6 sounds ideal for me. I am thinking you start off with no ship. But maybe one of you has the aspirations to become a captain. If not then you could always seek employ with an NPC one run by myself if no one wants to end up with the captains hat.
Heey Guys, Was watching some SWN on youtube and was loving it, it has been a while since I played D&D but SWN really got me motivated. Wednesdays 20.00 GMT+1 sounds great I'm GMT+1 aswell
Sent you an invite in PM Bazorki. Any other takers that are okay with that time? Just PM if you need an invite.
HELL YES! I AM DOWN! i dunno what GMT+1 is but i am EST but i will make it work to play this game. Alex please invite me to game. my skype is treetop_san. so happy to wake up and see 8 replies
so i apparantly am in GMT-5, so that would be 6 hours behind you guys? and if my military time is corrent "20" means 8pm, 6 hours behind would be 2pm my time? this works PERFECTLY into my schedule as a matter of fact. correct me if my time math is wrong.
yeah you're absolutely correct there, you're 6 hours behind us. Cool that it works for you, looking forward.
what classes/char types is everyone thinking. and we should group skype sometime im torn between an Expert or psychic, or warrior. lol. i dunno what to do but i am excited and want to do it
Telekinetic Criminal Telepath Buisnessman Teleporting Hacker/Engineer Precog Pilot and for a combat oriented character id go a Teleporting psychic but put the other packages or points into some kind of combat skill, use the tele to get good firing angles on people.
Yup the time difference is right. Sent you an invite! Open to 1-2 more applicants if people are interested and are game with our playtime.
Ill post the interest to join here, Although im already PMing alex. Although not sure if he is letting me join or not yet lol. For everyone else im already a part of a 6 month stars without number but its beginning to fall apart so im looking for a new one, I can play any of the classes that the group needs.
i guess that makes 6 players then, i suppose we are full
