Ability to "Turn Off" Character Sheets

This may sound like a weird request, or maybe not. There may be an active thread on the same topic and if there is, please add this to that conversation. As much as I love the character sheet feature, it is causing a major headache with how I prep for my game. The RPG my group plays uses simplified statblocks for adversaries of different levels (minions, lieutenants), which up to now have been a snap to build in the Attributes & Abilities tab of the character journal. But I'm finding that the more we build on the capabilities of the character sheet, the more conflicts this approach is creating, with multiples of certain attributes creating odd errors in unexpected places. So while there are other solutions I'm going to have to explore, the easiest solution I can think of is just not available in the system: turn off the character sheet. Not for everyone, but in an individual character journal, why not have a check box or similar tool that just let's me either ignore the values of the sheet entirely, or prioritize the A&A tab over the character sheet. My gut tells me prioritizing one set of attributes over another would be a real coding nightmare, so just turning off the character sheet feature in a character journal might be the easiest way to go. But, what do I know? Still, seems like a good feature to have. I can't be the only one who would use it. Thanks, and keep up the great work!

Let me understand this - you want the functionality of the character sheet but then have the ability to turn it off and use the AA section tab to store information. It wold be difficult to do both. You can choose NO character sheet under the campaign options and I have done that before because I do agree with you. and then just add macros in the AA section that duplicate character sheet functionality.

Wait, what's going on here again? Your Suggestion post is valid. But I think you might want to repost this question on Specific Use forum, or Character Sheets forum. What you described doesn't sound right. Is it possible you may have accidentally named an Attribute with a name that was already used on the character sheet? Don't double up. For example if the character sheet has "STRENGTH" then you might want to make a new one called MONSTER-STRENGTH or something, so that the 2 fields don't get mixed up by having the same field name.

Black Falcon: yes, I'm talking about the ability to turn OFF the character sheet in a specific character journal. Here's the deal. Let's say you have an attribute that is based on a formula in the character sheet. For an NPC, it makes more sense to shortcut it and just create an attribute with a static number in the A&A tab. In my experience, this creates a conflict and can cause weird results in play. Now, since I wrote this post (in December), I've built a workaround into my character sheet. But I still think it would be a handy capability to ave, and far less complicated than having to create three different (mook, lieutenant, character) character sheet distinctions for any one game. Gold: would be nice if it were that easy. In my case, all my complications came from my Avoidance stat. Avoidance is to Witch Hunter what Parry is to Savage Worlds or AC is to D&D. For a player character, Avoidance is figured as the average of two attributes. But monsters, mooks and lesser villains in the game are more abstracted, and don't have attributes like PCs. So just plugging in Avoidance 3 created a conflict that gave weird results in play. I have a workable though cumbersome fix built into my sheet now, but it would have been a helluva lot easier (for me) to have just created a journal that didn't include a character sheet in the first place. So I still think it would be a helpful option. Tom
