LFPlayers, "Mindscapes" using Pathfinder+DSP psionics, time TBA/negotiable

I am starting a new group for a Pathfinder game.  I am using a conversion of the 3.5 Bruce Cordell mod "Mindscapes", which used psionics rules from 3.5 and from his other Malhavoc supplements.  I ran this mod a few months ago face-to-face, but this will be my first attempt at running an online game.  The FTF version took about 20 hrs to finish.  I have no clue yet whether this will segue into a longer-term campaign. I am going to keep the character build questions, requests to play etc. confined to this thread for the time being.  I will gate people into the actual campaign page once we have an actual party and decide what days/times we want to run sessions.  There will probably be the usual overflow of desperate gamers asking to get in, so I am potentially willing to take on a larger group (6-7 rather than 4), but we will see. Character build parameters: starting level = 7 stats = 4d6 drop lowest / 20 pt buy / standard array 16/14/13/12/11/9 (player's choice) max hp at 1st then roll for each additional hd as standard 2 traits as standard (not sure if the choosing-from-2-different-lists thing has a point) hero points as standard (because I like "putting pressure" on PCs) gear 23.5k as standard, I don't particularly care what you spend it on I am very accepting of non-standard classes/races, so anything you want to use from d20pfsrd is probably fine, subject to my final approval (material from 3.5 or other d20 sources may also be OK, just ask in advance) we will be using the 3rd party Dreamscarred rules for the psionic stuff in the mod;  "it would be nice" if at least one person ran a psi character, but it's not necessary and I will adjust loot if needed I am somewhat "noob-friendly" but I would ask that you have looked at the rules closely enough to be able to make a character mostly on your own, and to have a basic idea of how combat works and not freeze up when your turn comes around (i.e. 100% handholding will probably cause issues).  I am mostly going to do first-come-first-serve and not demean people by asking for applications, interviews etc. The game is nominally going to be set in Golarion, specifically northern Taldor near the Fog Peaks.  The premise is that the group is travelling to a remote sanctuary in the mountains in order to get their fortunes told.  Again, multi-page backstories aren't required (and aren't really necessary to run the mod), but "it would be nice" if you concoct some reason for going on this pilgrimage (question you want to ask the oracles, person you are travelling with, etc. etc.).  We can assume that everyone in the party knows each other or at least has been on the road together long enough that they're not total strangers. Post sheets/links here or else PM me the information.  Also post availability/preferred days here or send privately.
I was thinking of playing a lycanthrope fighter or a gunslinger. Both are level one, but I'll change that once I know what level we are starting. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=566728" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=566728</a> <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=566589" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=566589</a> I'm available most days. I would prefer weekends, but I can do weekdays after six except Wednesdays and Thursdays.
for ease of it i'll just post here aswell :P
I'd love to play an Elan dual-disciple Seer/Telepath. Should be available in the evenings of GMT-5, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (not quiiiiite sure yet). I'd vote for 20pt. buy or maybe 4d6, but Standard Array is not very satisfying to me.
my character in progress (half giant aegis) is build upon 4d6
I'd love to play my gnome summoner or half orc cleric with you
Update: it doesn't look like there is quite enough interest to take this game further. &nbsp;I'm not cancelling it so much as putting it on hold until it gets unexpectedly necro'd, I find more people on roll20 and get them interested, etc. etc. &nbsp; There was at least one person in this group who requested a higher-level game, so I'm sorry it didn't happen. As mentioned, I'm a noob to the site so the player base here continues to "surprise" me. &nbsp; The usual wisdom about low-level D&amp;D3 sucking doesn't seem to apply here. &nbsp; The main demand seems to be for level 1 AP-like games (which get swarmed with noobs and then consequently collapse when the DM pulls out). &nbsp; So I am probably going to change tack and look at the Paizo stuff. &nbsp; If anyone here has a request for a specific adventure path they want to start, let me know.
awww 4 people isn't enough interest?
No. &nbsp;(Four is supposedly the ideal 3e group size, but it isn't enough to insure that games can still run if/when players flake out and don't show up.)
I think the thing to do is to go ahead and start with whoever will/can show up, doing some one-offs or roleplay and little things -- then advertise that we're looking for. You can't know if you don't try! I mean, just getting started is more important. Better to get started and move a little slowly at first than to not be able to play at all, and people like to join games that are already going. Most people using Roll20 are playing with friends they met / organized elsewhere who then create private games. The major problems with looking for groups to play with on here are #1 most DMs have something extremely extremely specific in mind that they want to run using extreme house rules and #2 people lurk rather than get invested which means games don't reach a stable "critical mass" of invested players because everyone has this idea that PUGgers are flaky and untrustworthy or whatever.
Count me in bro!
while i agree with the first half of your statement nebril I don't agree with the second half namely games i've looked at or applied for seemed pretty generic also the lurking thing eh.. depends on how quickly you get things together. I do find that people tend to get interested in games that allready have a time&amp;date known compared to "we'll figure out a time later" as they know that people who say i'm interested in the specific time know that if there are enough players (and the gm doesn't just dissapear off the face of the planet) the game can start.. whereas with the figure out time idea.. you might just have incompatible people and thus go back to searching for players.. on the thing for this specific game i think 4/5 is enough to start coordinating times and if that works out and atleast 3 show up for the actual game it's fine you can just recruit more people later (also saying this because you have one of the few games i've seen on here that allows psionics classes which i want to try out)
I think I'd like to try for a Monday night or some time during Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Still waiting to hear about my work schedule for the coming months, though. Almost certainly any time in the evenings (GMT-5) should be ok...
I can do Monday-Wednesday nights. I'd like to give it a shot. Below is my character sheet. <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=582850" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=582850</a>
just for reference what timezone nights?
6PM PST if that was directed to me
I am interested.
Interested in playing
I'd like to play if you still have space. I've played roll playing games off and on for a few years now, so I'm familiar with the game type but not with specific rules. But I learn fast and am enthusiastic about playing! Let me know if I could join your game
Someone is poking me about restarting this so I'll look at what we have as far as an actual party. I'm still thinking recruitment would be somewhat less of a problem if I ran something at starting level 1 (and I was looking at the Second Darkness AP for that purpose). &nbsp;Again, let me know your opinion on that if you have one. Also, given that this thread has only made 200 hits over two weeks, but an LFG thread (not even a DM thread) with "Two Girls" in the title has made 300 hits in less than 24 hrs, I'm thinking that I'd have been more successful if I'd renamed the mod "Sideboobscapes" or something...
You might. I've been wondering when we'd be starting this up.
people who expressed interest and/or provided characters ideas: thomas k (half-giant aegis) Kevin G (no char/had questions I didn't get around to answering) Nebril D'Mere (elan psion) Joe D (werebear fighter or human gunslinger) Cullen P (gnome summoner or half-orc cleric) Yokhen (no char) Robert R (oread inquisitor) John M (no char) Devin W (no char) Trevor H (no char) I got almost no input on day so I'll try to narrow down possible times on my own.
Well, I'm free Wednesday nights at around 5PM PST
eh if we're in need of some more supporting over tanking/melee hitting i could make a vitalist
I'm definitely interested. I'm currently in Hungary, don't know what time zones you guys are in, but I can be available any night of the week except Friday from 6:30PM till 12:30AM (CEST). I am also free all weekend pretty much, just let me know what time works for you guys. Anything after noon my time would be fine . I think I corrected the problems with my character, but I'm not sure. Sorry, I'm kind of new to the pathfinder system. Here is my updated character sheet:&nbsp; <a href="http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=586869" rel="nofollow">http://www.myth-weavers.com/sheetview.php?sheetid=586869</a> For reference, I was told I spent too much money on items. Here is the current count: Light Cross Bow: 35gp, bolts (20): 2gp, simple dagger: 4gp, leather armor: 10gp. Thats 51gp. Then I have thieves tools, which I can't find anywhere in the pathfinder website though I assume I need them for disable device checks and such? So hopefully the reminaing 49 gp can cover thieves tools and 3 torches. Edit: I just re-read the whole thread and see you were originally thinking of starting at level 7... I'm down for that too! I just really want to play hahah. I hope we can get enough people together this time. To be honest I might need a little help setting up my character, as I am unfamiliar with pathfinder, but I know the basic rules for DnD like games so I wont require hand holding at all once the actual game starts.
shrug i assumed it was level 7 because it said so
Well, originally it was but we might be starting out at level 1 this time around.
aww why that? we have plenty of interested players without level 1 (and&nbsp; eh to be honest i don't like level 1 myself :P)
I don't know. He feels recruitment might be less of a problem. I'm good at starting at any level.
I'm not sure I really have a preference about starting levels. If I do, I think level 4-7 are the best levels to start at. You don't quite get that awkward "boom, one shot, you're dead, roll a new character" accidental stuff that can happen... Yeahhh... Tends to make things a little weird when you end up having to play the rest of the campaign as a character you didn't want. I'll bring the sideboob if anyone has chips and drinks.
i decided to say fuck aegis i'll make a vitalist so am bringing da heals if people bring other stuff.. but yeah 3-4 would be minimum imo
