Add new layers or making tokens only visible to certain players

Hey everyone, Not sure if this is already been brought up. I GM/play Shadowrun, and we are thinking of migrating our game over to Roll20.  One thing that I am not sure if you can do are as followed: 1.  Mages have the ability to assense the astral plane, which can reveal ghost or spirits that other players cannot see, is there any way to make a token visible to only certain players or can you some how create a new layer that you could allow a player to see? Please let me know.

not at this time. It would be nice if that could be though.

As a workaround, some people use a second game in a separate window for this purpose.  Alternately, you can use dynamic lighting and create a section of the same page but illuminated only so that the player in question can see it.  - Gauss
I motion that this be a suggestion. People have mention new layers before but layers that can be given viewable permission is new and it would be good for things like see invisibility or other abilities that allow people to see things that others could not.
And for characters with different sight ranges, like in DnD. Every time my elves see something at 80 ft the humans can't, its a field day trying to handle the situation.

DaReaper, have you tried the Low-Light vision technique involving two tokens? - Gauss
O.O the what?

Ok, to replicate DnD/PF style low-light vision using Dynamic Lighting there is the following technique: (For clarity this example uses a Human Wizard carrying a light source and an Elven Rogue.) 1) Set up the light source on the token carrying that light source normally. Example: If the Human wizard has light cast upon him set the light source to 40 / 20 and checkmark the 'All players see' box. 2) Create a second token (such as a torch) to represent those that have Low-Light vision. Set it to 80 / 40 but do not checkmark the 'All players see' box. Instead, give control over the torch to those players with low-light vision (such as the elven rogue).  3) Group the tokens. Notes:  1) The Human Wizard's player will need to hold down the Alt key to bring up the radial menu. 2) The Human Wizard's player will need to either 'drag to select' or double click his token in order to move both the wizard and the torch together. 3) Anyone with control over the Torch can also move the Human Wizard. This technique requires people to be adult and not move tokens they are not supposed to move.  - Gauss
Is there any possibility that this will be a feature added in the near future; the adding of new layers which can be made visible to only certain players?  I am just curious as it would solve my astral plane problem quite nicely without having to have a second game window open.
Well, my take on the suggestion instead of another layer, would be to use the GM layer, right click and give permission to see. Then we won't add new layers, and the functionallity would be fairly logical, imo.
Leif, that may work, unless you have other things there you don't want players to see (Secret doors, notes, traps, ect)
I think Leif means just making individual tokens visible, not the entire layer. Its a good idea :)
Yea that would work very well for magic users when they astral percieve an area.
