LFG First ever RPG. Need help with Char Sheet, rules and everything else. GMT

Complete newbie, never played an RPG in my life. Need help grasping the basics. I have no books, no dice, no knowledge but plenty of enthusiasm and desire to get involved. Ideally i'd love to find an established group, with the patience to bring me under their wing and help me develop both as a PC and my IRL knowledge of the game. I have a backstory i'm working with for my preferred character but i'll be honest and say the amount of research i've done so far hasnt helped me one bit.I have a very very basic understanding of dice and that's about all i have. Outside of finding a group and a game, if anyone has the patience to sit down for a while and answer my billion questions while helping me put together a character sheet or two, i'd be eternally greatful! It would help people if you let them know what days and times on those days you would be available as well as what game, or at least what kind of game, you are interested in playing.

Yeah i was going to edit those in but didnt want to bump the post back up. I'm in the UK so GMT. Available pretty much any evening if it's planned in advance or a set schedule. As for game, i'm pretty open to ideas and suggestions in that respect. I'd love something with the possibility of the higher end of character customisation and abilities (within reason of course), so i could truly get into Role Playing rather than presets. This would come down to whats available and allowed via the character sheet. Which i also guess depends on house rules etc. This is why i wanted to spend time talking to people from this site to get a basic grasp of how things are. I know each game is different, rules are difference etc etc. There is no "general" guide i guess. With it being my first foray, i'm pretty much Carte Blanche and able to be lead/molded into someone worthy/fitting of your time, effort and group.

Hey, I'm sort of in the same boat, but I'm relatively familiar with the mechanics and roleplaying aspects of D&D (mostly pathfinder and some 5e). I'd be up for joining you and Kyle if you are going to set something up together! :)

I've spent the last couple hours creating a Pathfinder sheet with the help of a very kind gent. I'm more than likely going to be playing 3.5 or Pathfinder for my first game(s) to get used to the genre as a whole.
