Warning: Unresponsive Script

I've started receiving an Unresponsive Script Error. As this is a javascript related issue and I have NO knowledge of javascript I'm not exactly sure how to correct this issue. I get the following error: This seems to be in response to clicking on a specific roll button. The Weapon 1 Dam Calc / Macro Button. I have been recently spending time getting the Class section in place on the main page and that means a lot of auto-calc fields. I've done a lot to get it to calculate the correct BAB and SAVES. Based on progression type and levels. This is really annoying because I'm fully expecting the answer to be something like "you cant do XX because of _somesillyreasonhere_" with my luck, and I'd just gotten all of the class stuff just the way I wanted. Okay, I attempted steps 1-3 as best I could, I cannot clear my cookies at this time I have too many settins that I would lose and that would be a colossal headache to redo them. I tried this in three different browsers, Firefox 36.0 Chrome 41.0 and Opera, not sure the version. I am currently running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 on a Toshiba Qosmio x770 laptop with an Intel i7-2670QM CPU 2.20GHz 2.20Ghz. I have 8GB ram and it is a 64-bit OS. My Anti-Virus is Kaspersky Internet Security ver 13.0.1.4190. I also tried this on my desktop which is running AVG. I dont really know what OS that is running of the top of my head and I didn't check. Same browsers same addons. The addons I have is Yahoo toolbar and Adblock, Chrome also has a Googledocs addon (i think). And Adobe Flash 16.0.-1. Javascript is enabled. Character: Test Only that roll button that I have seen. I've not really tested any of the other characters because well my work is mostly constructing this character sheet.

Toby, I took a look at your sheet. There was something strange in your API, but I saved the empty script and it cleared. I tried rolling the button you were having trouble with and after many seconds it rolls for me. The issue is that roll template has 13 different rolls in it, containing dozens and dozens of math formulas with hundreds of attributes. Set up that way I doubt your sheet will be very performant.

Thats odd, because I never used API, and I rarely use it even for other peoples scripts, its not very user friendly, then again its nothing like javascript I'm familiar with from those teach your self guides with document.write("stuff") and so on. I'll examine the roll template but it shouldn't have "dozens and dozens" of math formulas, and certainly shouldn't have hundreds of attributes, I dont think there is more than a a dozen attributes that go into calculating base attack. Very puzzling indeed.

Out of curiosity, are any of those errors listed before the last three lines going to pose an issue? I mean for after I get this fixed, I don't exactly know what I am seeing here, to make that kind of determination. I mean some of it looks kinda like an html validation report but others parts dont.

Those three lines mean 1) You clicked a button 2) The Roll20 dice parcer had to go through nine levels of nested rolls (IE rolls referencing attributes that are equations referencing other attributes) 3) That is your roll. Yes, I know what the last three lines mean. Doesn't mean I like what this means for how I create the character sheet. I had things just the way I wanted and boom. This happens, I have really no idea how to proceed because the functionality of the sheet is exactly what I want.. The performance however, It may run after a few seconds for you, but for me, I still get the error. Which, from what I now know-- I am guessing the browser's way of telling me "HOLY fudgenuggets too much math!" 90% of that code is the long hand formula for doing a min(x,y) formula..... using brian's math stuff on the CSS wizardry page. I suppose I could perhaps find someone to make this as an API, but I really don't want to force people to use API to use my character sheet. So as of right now the only thing I can think will the the sheet to work the way I want is strip out all of the auto calc and force them to do it themselves. A pitty since that was the whole point, to make their lives easier. Especially, for people importing characters from programs that don't itemize which classes give how much bonuses. Anyways, thank you for the help finding the cause of the error even if I don't like what it means, you still were quick and thorough. Roll20 rocks and you folks rock too!

Sorry I didn't have a happier answer for you. We're sensitive to the needs of our sheet authors though, so your problem is something we'll keep in mind when we revisit formulas.

Happy answer, no. But I am more concerned for the quality of the support. And on that, I couldn't have asked for better. Although, it would be nice if the character sheets could have a limited number of built in API that works for everyone who uses the roll templates. Just like there is a 'generic' roll template. Some way to handle basic math functions. Especially min() max(). Which, incidentally if implemented would entirely solve the max damage dice issue for roll templates, because after all that's essentially what the dhXX does for expanded "/rolls" I'll prob add a suggestion post.
