[LFG] Weekly SWN game, Sunday at 7:00 PM GMT. New players welcome :)

Hey there! So as you can tell my name is Matthew and I'm going to be running a Stars Without Number campaign on a weekly basis. So I've set the time to be around 7 but that can be changed depending on the needs of the group of course. New players are welcome! All I ask is that you're dedicated to the group and try to make most of the sessions :) I do require notice if you will be missing one though. Also this campaign will differ slightly from most SWN runs as it will focus on one planet for the most part, especially in the first few missions. That's not to say there won't be other planets being involved and you won't get to zap around the galaxy, it's just the planet will be the focal point of the game. Can't reveal too much at the moment but I'll give the basic information once you join. My style of GM'ing is quite open, I will give plot hooks and whatnot but for the most part I'll let the players do whatever they want, all actions do have repercussions however. :) Anything you want to do, or whichever direction you want to go I don't mind. My job is to tell the story, not control it. So yeah, enough of my ranting for now. If you're interested feel free to either message me on Skype "themobby123" or just hit me up on roll20! Looking forward to playing with you all.
Any other days you might be open to running?
No sorry bud. Sunday is the only day that I can run it. It suits all the others that joined so far as well. What I can do is adjust the time for you if that would help? But to everyone else there's around 2-3 slots remaining out of a group of 6 and it's filling fast.
Hey, I'm interested in this. I've played a couple sessions but still rather in experienced.
Alright I'll send you a message with all the details Chotee :)
No problem, and i'm definitely interested, message me :D i just had another potential campaign on that day but i'm thinkin i'll choose this, there's not that many SWN games in good timeslots for me.
Alright David I'll shoot you a message in a minute if you're sure.
id join but the last group of 6 went terribly. if your plan is to take 6 and wait for 2 to not show up/drop what is going to happen is 6 show, 1 hates the high number of players, 2 dont show the 2nd week and the 3rd leaves thinking it will be 6 again, so it drops to 3, then you need to find a 4th, and its a mess. better to just pick 4 stable solid commited people and not have that problem.
Ah, what I meant by a group of six was 6 people including me. So the GM and five players, and I agree with you for the most part. The last campaign I had for SWN was originally great. That was until players became unreliable, the GM (although a really nice guy) had issues and couldn't make the sessions much, so after 5 weeks of the same story I left. It's actually what got me to make this campaign. Anyone who joins will be dedicated and will make sure they can make the time consistently. One or two sessions can be missed, unforeseen circumstances do pop up but whoever joins I'll make sure is committed to the game itself. On a different note however; are you actually interested in joining or did you just pop in to give some friendly advice?
I have never played this system before. In fact, I haven't played an RPG for sometime. How new player are friendly are you? How new player friendly is the game?
New players are welcome to the campaign. I'm perfectly willing to help out in any way I can. All that I ask is you give the SWN manual a read over and come to the sessions. SWN is actually quite a simple game when it boils down to it. It can be seem a bit daunting at first but it has an easy combat system and is quite new player friendly in general.
well, im interested, i just didnt really want to relive that 6 person group. 5 players is a bit better. Im able to come each week reliably to that time slot, but am unsure if i will want to. I am willing to give it a few weeks and see how cluster-fucky it turns out to be. If 5 players works out then hey, awesome. I am familar with the system and DM it myself twice a week, so if the newer players need help understanding rules i would be happy to help.
I'm interested if there's any space left (the puns!) it would be my first SWN game but I've been wanting to try out the system for awhile now, the only problem is there are so few SWN games with open slots. I mostly have experience with D&D and a bit of pathfinder. I'm 21 attending college have a working mic and like to have a bit of fun with the characters I'm also PST time so running the game late shouldn't be a problem for me.
That's actually a good idea starting off planetside for a while and no ship. The TPK of having only max rank 1 in Navigation and a bad reroll is always a charming kicker to test the are we going to play this by the Old School Hard it was meant to or are we going to fudge it and not have to restart after the 3rd session? If you're playing it for the simpleness of the system which allows pretty quick roleplaying and also follow the lethal consequences of risky decisions. I'd be up for playing.
