[D&D 5e] LFPs to start up a weekly campaign (Tuesday or Wednesday, exact time TBD)

Welcome one-and-all! We're starting up another story - a tale of heroes and villains, troubles and triumphs, and above all, a story of one party of brave adventurers... Campaign and logistical details: - Sessions will likely run from 4 to 5 hours, meeting weekly (most likely on Tuesday or Wednesday), depending on player and DM schedules. - We will be playing D&D 5e - We want to livestream sessions of this campaign on Twitch. Players should have a webcam in addition to a microphone, and be comfortable with an audience. Important: The campaign is operated on a pay-to-play basis of $10 per person, per session. We are currently running three pay-to-play campaigns and have had exceptional results with this method. We've found that pay-to-play allows us to maintain a high level of art and narrative quality and encourages player consistency and involvement (see "What you get", below). If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about pay-to-play gaming, please send me a PM as we're trying to keep this thread reserved for inquiries related to the campaign. About me: There are several DMs behind this account; my name is Patrick, and I'll be your host for this campaign. I'm a Story Teller first and a Dungeon Master second. I work with the players to form an intricate story and to offer everyone a fun experience. I was an alpha tester for 5e, and am extremely confident in the mechanics of both DnD and Roll20. I'll be utilizing the many features Roll20 has to offer, ranging from intricate and interactive maps to dynamic lighting! As a DM, I've been running games for about 6-7 years, ranging from a variety of different gaming systems, worlds and home-brews. I favor the role play aspects rather than the crunch of mechanical play. The combats I do offer often utilize environments and reward creative thinking. I dislike putting players through a hack and slash, and always put in alternate ways around obstacles. I enjoy nothing more than incorporating personalized, interwoven stories that tie the players to each other, and the characters to the world. What you get: - Commitment. Not only from me, but also from the people you'll be playing with. Flaking sucks on either side of the GM screen and many a beautiful campaign has been ruined by scheduling and inconsistency. - Personalization. Not only will I tailor the campaign to your character, weaving your backstory into the fabric of the campaign, but I will also adapt the feel of the campaign to everyone's playstyle preference. Not enough action? Not enough politics? I’ll adapt future sessions to suit the party. - Guidance. If you're new to roleplaying, tabletop, dungeons and dragons or even 5e. We're available to answer any and all questions you might have. We can walk you through some of the more technical aspects of the game or act as a sounding board to bounce your creative ideas against. If you're interested in DMing, we can put aside some time to teach you how we DM. - Customization. Working with a paid group and two other GMs allows more flexibility to bring in detailed art, tokens and maps, more intricate and challenging puzzles and a better all-around experience. The campaign is intended to start in June , depending, of course, on player availability and schedule. The first few sessions will be using a post-session payment model. This is not intended as a free trial, but if you decide early on that this isn't the right fit for you, you won't be out any money. Please send me a PM if you're interested in getting more information! Thanks for stopping by! Two's Company
Hello Patrick, I had sent a PM to the Two's Company inbox and gotten an intiial response, but I thought I'd go ahead and post here. I'm very interested in joining this campaign and want to take the next step and start generating a character, but had a few questions before I get too deep into the process: • Classes - are there any limits to what classes are available, or what types of Paths would be available? • Races - are all races (and racial subtypes) from the PHB available to use? • Setting - is there any type of background of setting in Ashlin's history, nations, people's, culture, etc., that would be necessary to make a character'a backstory? • Vanguards - since we will be a part of this organization, is there anything about their structure, creed or expected role that might conflict strongly with a character's motivations? • Ambitions - I am imagining a character with pretty wild ambitions, but this may clash with the party, setting and Vanguard organization (it is not an evil or stupid ambition, fwiw). I'm comfortable with changing it, but just curious how much verisimilitude there is with this. Thanks in advance!
I would love to join
Hey Jimmy, I've passed your questions along to Patrick. He'll get to them when he wakes up, since it's about 3 in the morning where he is now. :) Chris, I've sent you a PM with more info about the campaign. Cheers, Steven
