House Rules (Updated 2/9/16)

These are subject to change but I have used them in that past and they seem to work: I run skill challenges that are somewhat like those in 4e but more interactive. Essentially I ask for initiative and each player goes in turn making a skill check to further the party toward a goal, some checks wont make sense and so wont be allowed. However, the way you use a skill could make a normally useless skill useful (and allowed) if you're creative. You cannot use a skill that a player has used before you this round of the challenge, and you cannot use a skill that you have used last time in the skill challenge. I use these to get players to roleplay more and show off their abilities in the world. The skill checks must pass a certain DC. Once the party has a number of successes the party gains one success, if you fail the check (usually a number of times fewer than those required to succeed) there will be repercussions, not death or actually failure of your goal (usually) but a penalty eventually. I understand that not all pathfinder characters are built to be amazing at skill challenges so most DC's will be somewhat lower to compensate . If you take to long to decide what you want to do in a turn we will move you down in the initiative order after the next person. This gives you time to decide what to do on your turn while not slowing down combat (which can already be slow). Think about it like this: Your character only has 6 seconds what would they do given a birds eye view in this situation, giving you 30 seconds is ample time to decide, this include conversing with allies (this is just to decide what to do with your turn, not to actually to do your turn, that can take time) I the hero points system as described here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules... However this is without the spells or feats that deal with hero points. You gain one hero points on every level up and I will very infrequently give them out as rewards for in and out of game occurrences. You each start with two in this campaign You can use them once, as a party , to re-roll during a skill challenge.. This has been replaced by using hero points (2/9/16)

UPDATE: I forgot one (or more we will see later) Except for your first level (which you get all of your HD in health) you roll your health and add your con modifier to see how much health you gained that level. If the result would be less then half your HD value take half your HD value for that level (if you have a con penalty apply that to the half HD value and if you have a bonus apply that).

More Update! We are using the popcorn initiative system outlined here: http://angrydm.com/2013/09/popcorn-initiative-a-gr... It has worked really well but it requires you to pay attention. I warn you I will abuse it just as you guys will in encounters (have my monster go twice, make the downed player go first, use a hero point to take an extra action for monsters powerful enough to have them.)

UPDATE 9/24/15 * We no longer are using skill challenges * We are no longer using popcorn initiative * We are now putting a limit on the amount of wealth a player can have. Any crafted items count only 75% of their market value towards the wealth you can own. Other obtained items count NORMALLY as their market value toward the total. The total wealth you can have is set forth on the recommended player wealth per level that you can find on the psrd. I will post a link later.

Update: 2/6/16 * Skill Challenges are back and modified to fit a bit better with pathfinder. I will post detailed rules later on how they are changed. * This isn't even a house rule but with the rate the campaign has turn over *follow* this guideline for creation of new characters: Table: Character Wealth by Level can also be used to budget gear for characters starting above 1st level, such as a new character created to replace a dead one. Characters should spend no more than half their total wealth on any single item. For a balanced approach, PCs that are built after 1st level should spend no more than 25% of their wealth on weapons, 25% on armor and protective devices, 25% on other magic items, 15% on disposable items like potions, scrolls, and wands, and 10% on ordinary gear and coins. Different character types might spend their wealth differently than these percentages suggest; for example, arcane casters might spend very little on weapons but a great deal more on other magic items and disposable items. * Ill only allow one player in the group to take leadership or some related feat. * Keep all third party stuff reasonable. I cant keep track of everything, but if you know it will be broken or above powerlevel, talk to me and offer a way to tone it down. Maybe we can make it work. * Be on time. Thats it. Do it or I will talk with you.
