November 12, 866 After healing up and resting from the encounters that happened the day before we started to explore the area. Ragnar and Niko found a cave entrance and fought a couple of Wolf Spiders. After climbing down around 1500 feet, we started to explore the caves. We encountered several more Wolf Spiders which were easily dispatched. And some benign green glowing mushrooms. After crossing the underground river (much to Ragnar's displeasure), we encountered a camp of Bugbears. There were two passageways that lead to the camp, one to the north and one to the south. Ragnar and Niko moved to the south. Kelyn, Brinely, Volkrak and Ravi went to the north passage. Knuckles stayed in the middle and shot his bow. Kelyn blocked part of the north passage with a puffball. Niko beefed up the party with a Prayer. And the fighters did what they do best, bash. It was a long drawn out battle with what seemed like wave after wave of Bugbears, requiring a 2nd Prayer spell to finish it out. Kelyn also cast a 2nd Puffball for some crowd control. Ravi and Brinely took a couple of hard hits. The north group was able to push the bugbears back a little bit and gain some ground. The south group held steady at the narrowest point. Kelyn cast Pyrotechnics on the bugbears' campfire which temporarily blinded several of them and a couple of the party (sorry guys!) The turned the tide as one of the leader's sounded the retreat and we quickly mopped up the few bugbears still engaged in combat. We retreated back across the river to a safe place to rest and heal. All in all, 37 bugbears fell to our blades. Feel free to correct or add anything.
