Tinting Map Objects?

I've noticed if I move a map tile to the token layer I'm able to tint it and move it back. I thought of using this for a set I'm working on for the marketplace, but before I did I wanted to make sure it wouldn't add to problems such as lag. Do any wiser minds out there know?

It shouldn't cause an issue from a technical standpoint.
If you double click an item while on the map layer, you can also tint it directly. Why move it to the token layer and back?

One more tinting question. How is the tint calculated? It looks like a simple partial transparancy of the color placed over that object. If so what percentage is that transparency?

40% Opacity (or 60% Transparency, however you want to look at it.) I ran a little experiment: I put a pure white token in Roll20 and applied the #ff0000 Red tint to it, then screen shot it and pulled into the Gimp. The eyedropper showed 40% red for the captured tint, which I verified by by putting the Roll20 capture on the left and a 100% red at 40% opacity on the right. I'm pretty confident that's the answer. =D

(I wanted to say "Can't see the line, can you Russ?" but wasn't sure if anyone would get it. =D )

Thanks! That's everything I need to know to make a highly tintable set, err highly tintable.

I am a fan of your graphics in Roll20. I'm very interested to see your concept and results on that tintable set. I've got my own idea for a tintable set. Gonna wait and see what you're coming out with before I make a request for what I want.

Thanks! I'm making a tool that has come up for myself on more than one occasion. Not as artistic as my usual work perhaps, but functional. Its a series of tintable glowing lines. Should be good for constructing cyberpunk network maps, large magical inscriptions & traps on floors, or doing virtual reality overlays. I think the tint feature has a lot of great potential that I've not explored thoroughly. Using Aaron's instructions to design my tests I found that medium greys with large highlights and medium shadows get the best results as far as glowing objects go. That's my suggestion for anyone else looking to into creating tintable glowing assets for their own campaigns or marketplace sets.
Indeed. I have bought way too much of your stuff Gabriel, mostly because they always seem to suit my needs and/or just fit thematically into everything I need to represent.
