Multple Enemies, Same Monster, Same HP?

Hello wizards and warriors of Roll20! I have a question that is quite specific; Say I fill an NPC character sheet for a kobold. I want to ambush the party with ten of these kobolds. However, all of them are linked in terms of HP etc. One of my ex-players mumbled something about rollable tables and how these actually allow you to even have different kobold tokens yet still relative to the same species and type of monster.. Can someone help me out here?

Hi, the wiki will be your best friend here, fear not you can have multiple enemies with individual HP! Linking Tokens to Journals There is loads of really useful stuff for GM's and players alike in there, i highly recommend taking the time to browse :) As for the 'different token' aspect you could set up a rollable table as mentioned, put the various token images you want in there and weight them appropriately (1 for all if you want equal weighting or use ratios to have some be more 'rare', ie: have swordsmen as 10, spearmen as 20, archers as 5, mages as 1 etc). Then drag the table as a token onto the table top and set it up as a default token as in the wiki documentation first mentioned. When you drag the journal token onto the table to use they will all come out the same but right clicking and selecting 'random side' in the 'multiple side' menu will allow the token to generate an image from the table without breaking the link to the journal/character sheet. Hope that helps :)

I know what you're talking about Alex, a member created a script that you'd fill a roll-able table with image links and you could configure it that when you dragged a certain enemy type to the tabletop, it would put a random image in there. So you could conceivably have 'goblin' table and it would select a random goblin image. I can't seem to find the topic or remember the author though.

As Ken rightly says someone did automate this process, which as a mentor you could implement into your campaign: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1715719/script-randomtoken#post-1716006" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/1715719/script-randomtoken#post-1716006</a>
Thank you for the quick replies! Much appreciated.
When I create a humanoid creature be it kobolds, gnolls, goblins etc, I use a rollable table for several different tokens, always including a dead body, I like a corpse rather than a Big Red X. I also use a simple script that allows me to Roll Hit Points for each creature as it is spawned, another simple script numbers the creature token so I get Goblin 1, Goblin 2, etc. What I found was though that when I assign the token to the monster character sheet, the Hit Points must be changed to None or every time there's damage all the tokens will be damaged. I think that'w what I am trying to say... -Ajax

What you have to do is have your token on the map, remove it as default token on the sheet, unlink the hp, then resave it as the default token. This is because it sounds like you have it save as the default token with the hp still linked to the main sheet. This causes all tokens based on that one sheet to reflect any changes to any of the tokens ie you reduce hp on one token and they all change or you change the AC on one token and they all change, etc..

You don't have to remove the link and then resave as default. Keep it linked, by default, and then unlink specific instances of the token. It will keep the HP you've set, but it won't change it for any other instance of the token -- once you've unlinked it on that specific token.

True GK but if you have the hp already set and unlink then you resave it as default, each time you drag and drop it will show that hp without having to go back and unlink. That is the point I was trying to make. Get the token all setup including the hp then unlink the hp before saving as default. This allows the gm to drag and drop 15 tokens and not worry about going back to unlink each one.
