[FUDGE] Traveller/Diaspora - Interest Check.

This could take weeks or even months before I am ready to GM it. It would likely happen twice a month on Friday night, although that is subject to change. I have been developing a list of FUDGE Skills. Attributes, Items and house rules for a Science fiction game based heavily on Traveller and Diaspora. You might ask "Why not just play one or the other?" . The truth is I can't resist trying to take things I like better from one system and translating it to another. I am very intrigued by the Diaspora Starship combat, but I prefer the Old school Stats. I like the feel of Traveller, but I like my own universe. I can't help but fiddle. I have one hard and fast rule: No alien races. In all sci-fi, aliens just end up being anthropomorphised, borrowing ideas from various human cultures and mashing them together to make an alien. We are humans - we empathize with human needs and desires. Let's just say we have not found an alien civilization yet and concentrate on being human.... I was thinking we could start with a cluster creation a la Diaspora. This could be done VoIP or via a Forum. As we create a cluster, we should also keep in mind the overarching structure of the universe. Do we want to play in a Firelyfly style verse with a single (and sometimes oppressive) government? . Do we want to play in a Bujold/Webber style verse with competing political entities that could erupt into war? Are we in a time of open rebellion? There are lots of questions about the political and economic structure of the game that I think it would be good to solve co-cooperatively. Once this is done, then character creation would be done. That is when we develop some story ideas, and I turn them into adventures. I may even keep some of the ideas to myself as a surprise... Other people have plotted they way before me, FUDGE - ing Traveller, and I am borrowing shamelessly from them whenever I can find stuff they have written on the interwebs. SO - IS there interest? Should I continue? should I put my effort elsewhere - like into a Star Wars game? (I'm a bit burned out on traditional Fantasy at the moment) reply here and let me know what you think...

To be honest, you would have better luck doing one or the other.
