An Intro to A Song of Ice and Fire

Game is now full, thanks for your interest. :) System - I'll be using the A Song of Ice and Fire RPG system, only got the original core book but as far as I know the Game of Thrones edition is just an errata version of the book. Time - Bi weekly monday nights most likely from 7.30 GMT till whenever the group decided to call it a night. The time is up for debate at the moment but the day will definitely be ever 2nd Monday. Who and What - I'm looking for 3 to 5 players (on LFG it says 3 not sure if I can add 3 to 5) This campaign will most likely initially start as an introduction to game but if all things go well it may blossom into a full blown campaign. To start with the players will generate their house, and then their characters I feel this will give everyone including me as a GM the opportunity to explore the history of their house and it's current standing in the changing politics of Westeros and to build a group that works well to tell the story of said house and the characters who are the main focal point in it.  Outside of this the biggest reasons I'd like to do the house generation as a group with myself included is being a game made up of players who've most likely never met or played together before it gives us all an opportunity to talk ooc and get to know each other and interact and build as a group before delving into the roleplaying. An extra bonus for me as the GM is being involved with all of this will help spark story ideas from what I know of the players, the house and the characters. Things I'd like to note: Being A Song of Ice and Fire the game will likely to contain mature content in keeping with the novels that the game is based upon.
Are you in Europe? I am intertested, but for us here in the States that time is brutal. You mean Greenwich Mean Time right?
Yeah I mean GMT I'm in Scotland. I'm flexible time wise at the moment due to being unemployed and having a terrible sleeping pattern.
I'm on the East Coast, so I'm GMT-4 I believe. if we were at say, 4pm or 5pm GMT I would be extremely interested! I've read all the books, and have PDF of the core rules for the RPG, though haven't read much of it.
Could easily start at 4 or 5pm GMT if it suits other players as well. :)
Im interested in playing. I haven't played before but would love to get into this. Im US as well so it all depends on the timeframe if i can join.
EST or PST and I'll translate the likely times that's been discussed for game start. 4-5pm GMT would be 12-1pm EST or 9-10am PST I believe.
oh. Uhm.. i was meaning 8pm EST would be best for me. I was counting the wrong way with the time difference.
ahh well times are still up for debate
I am EST anytime the sun is up works, would definitely consider playing at least through the summer.
I have seen the core rule-book at a bookstore, never picked it up. Is being a sword of bravos viable, or can Dothraki be in Westoros? What are the classes? Maesters as a class even in combat? Are we to be in the Night's Watch beyond the wall. Are we from any banner in particular? Are men at arms generic or are their multiple types?
there aren't really classes but there are a few things you can get which make for a viable bravossi fencer or water dancer, some dothraki do become sellswords so they could find work in Westeros. Part of the game system is generating your own house with it's own history ect so there is any particular banner or house you'd serve under at the moment that'd all be decided when the house is generated. As I mentioned maybe best to wait till the house has been generated before thinking to much on character concepts.  May push it to 8pm GMT (4pm EST I believe and 1 PST) to be somewhat more friendly to the majority of roll20 who I believe are American. As important as everyone is as a player playing a game with a tired GM is never fun.
I'm potentially interested though I may not be able to commit fully until a finalized time has been chosen, until them mark me down as interested.
Thanks KK I'll keep that in mind.
If there are any available slots I'd be interested. Currently stuck in a hotel in Scotland every Monday so the schedule sounds ideal. ;-)
Awesome are you a fellow Scott Novus? And the time is imposing some issues with our friends across the atlantic so at the moment spaces seem fine.
Also settled on 8pm GMT every second monday, double checked with a few players already if that's fine 3 have gotten back to me with that being good for them, anyone I've not messaged is mainly because the conversation turn in this thread as suggested it'd be a bad time. If I'm wrong about that let me know.
Not quite a Scot no - I hail from south of the wall (the NE of England) but my dad's side of the family are originally from Scotland.  I'm working around Glasgow during the week and (hopefully) shoud be for the forseeable future.
Cool, well welcome to the game Novus. :)
