So I'm extremely new to roll20 and I don't have a computer just iPad. So I tried looking up tutorial on using the app nothing popped up even with official roll20. How does one utilize the app and what can be done on it exactly?
The app lets you access the in-room chat and journals. It won't let you access the map.

I understand how that would look, if you just loaded the App as your introduction to Roll20. Since you found these forums, you're probably over in Safari or Chrome (web browser app) now. I would recommend read & look around the website in your web browser to get the idea of what you can do, and how to do it. There is a thread for new users and some YouTube videos introducing you to Roll20. You would need to start or join a campaign, for the app to have a purpose. There are many ways to start or join a campaign. There is the Looking For Group subforum (post using your web browser), and the Looking For Group search engine at the top of this webpage in the blue header. You can also start a campaign for free if you want to Game Master and invite other people to join yours. Once you're in a campaign, the App can then be used to access/control certain aspects of the campaign , namely the character sheet and text-chat. The app is meant as a "second screen" when you're gaming Roll20 otherwise on a TV/computer or face-to-face at the table. If you or your GM becomes a Mentor (subscriber) of Roll20, then your iPad can use the full Roll20 with all the features like the map and tokens. (This method is not the app but is called "Tabletop on tablet").
