Hi guys. I'm looking to start a smaller Savage Worlds 'mini-campaign', inspired by an old cult pc game by Blue Byte. Don't look it up, you'll spoil the big plot twist. The setting is simple, Humanity's started exploring space and while it's all vast and empty - they've met one other intelligent species and inadvertently nearly completely destroyed them by a combination of corporate greed, ignorance and the great human weapon of germs. Ever since they inadvertently committed genocide, it's been SOP to treat new planets a bit more carefully, and any trip into uncharted space carries an expert who's sole job is dealing with the possibility of an alien encounter. A cushy job, as that hasn't happened in the 20 years the organisation's existed. Your job. Guess what's gonna be different this trip, 'round? I'm looking for 2 players to play humans aboard the MSV Toronto, a planet-cracker mining ship on it's way to an uninhabited planet rich in minerals. I'm also looking for 2 players interested in playing some of the alien inhabitants of said uninhabited rock. It's a proper fantasy mini-campaign, but if you want 'magic', you're stuck playing the alien. What do I mean with a mini-campaign? I mean it's got a definite end. I don't really want to commit to a session count, but I think maybe 20 sessions or so? The second reason I'm calling it a mini-campaign is; I'm already running another campaign which is my main squeeze. She's my wife, Albion would be my mistress. Personally, I'd like to test lots of little roll20 possibilities here I haven't used in my main campaign to experiment. That doesn't mean this is a 'lazy' campaign, not at all, it would get love and attention; but it will be event-driven more than character driven. I do want some personality from your player characters, but there won't be any deep personal plotlines pursued. A good chance to join up, relax and crack some jokes. Solid roleplay is welcome, but mostly - I want a relaxed environment where jokes are welcome. What do I expect from the players? Can post here, or just PM me, but let me know what you enjoy in a pen and paper game. Let me know if you'd like to play a human or an alien. It's not a job interview, but please understand I'll get more interested parties than I'll have open spots, and 'first come first served' has never made anyone happy. What can you expect from the campaign / GM? You can expect some solid prep, and a plot that (while stolen) mixes interesting bits of mythology with a shallow alien culture. It's a shortcoming of pretty much all sci-fi in that alien culture is incredibly human-like. Albion will be no different. Your aliens will be bipedal humanoids with a culture similar to 'fantasy humans'. There will be a healthy dose of combat, and things will focus mostly on exploration, with a decent amount of combat. You didn't mention a timezone! That's not a question, but I'll answer anyway. I'm in China, GMT +8. My internet's not letting me use voice, let alone video. I am however travelling in July, and timezones will shift some then. For now, I can do EST timezone evenings in weekends (those would be my mornings), or any GMT +8 weekday evenings. This will change in July, and I can't really predict the exact how. Moving to either GMT +1 or +5 seems likely. What this means, basically, is throw your name in the hat if you're interested and we'll try to work something out. Read all the way down? Interested? Questions? Let me know!
