Stealthy Players: How can I hide them from other players?

I am new to using roll20 as a GM and I got a bit excited that I might be able to put tokens in the GM layer and give control to the party rogue so that they could be more realistically stealthy. Unfortunately, they could not see/move the token once it changed layers even though they had control. Is there a different way to do this? I would really love to be able to add that extra bit of realism to stealth characters. Thanks in advance!
You could give them a transparent token to use, I think. So long as other players don't see said character's CS, they won't be able to highlight the map to find them.

Yes, that. Also, give the token an aura and tick on aura1 edit permission. That way, the player can see their token, by the aura, which won't be visible to other players. Additionally, you could set their token up as Rollable Table Token so that the invisible mode is easily available. (Though you'll still need to adjust the aura on change, or leave it on all the time.)
Thanks! This was very helpful. The rogue happens to be a changeling as well, so the roll-able tokens lets me kill two birds with one table.

Great! Definitely post more if you have other problems you need solved! =D
I've found creating a token of a single pixel, works remarkably well for this type of application, quick labels on items that are part of maps, spell effects, and as mentioned if used with a rollable table can work as an invisible character... -Ajax

Yeah, I use a 1x1 transparent gif, scaled to 70x70. =D
