I would like to join in on any of the FFG star wars games, I do prefere Edge of the Empire, but I can play any of them, I have a lot of time now so I can take a few hours a week to play at any time.
I played edge of the empire once with a bad GM that had a habit of treating it like D&D, giving out WAY too much money and exp. Of course this was right when the Edge book first came out. I like star wars and am willing to try any non WotC Star Wars game with a GM I have never gamed with before.
I have pretty much all the source books and enjoy mixing them; I feel like it is a more natural 'Star Wars' world when the species, careers, and specializations are blended. ElMeroMero, if you want to GM, that sounds great to me! I'm GM'ing two campaigns right now so cannot offer any services there. I'm happy to help with rule debates though! ;)
Who ever wants to be the GM, if you want you can go ahead and make a campaign page, and personally I agree with matthew, a mixing of all the sources books is the best, though it is up to who ever GMs.
Can I get a list of the books then? I have only ever used Edge of the Empire and played a Trandoshan Gadgeteer Bounty Hunter. Also, like I said, my only experience in it was with a BAD GM.
So, my biggest qualm with the FFG material is they bury important rule sets in random Adventure Modules (Mass Combat in Onslaught at Arda I, Squad Combat in Dead in the Water, Dataspikes in The Jewel of Yavin). That makes it a little tough because you have to hunt all over for particular rules...
I had created a campaign to play with my sister and friends, but we haven't used it yet. I loaded the maps for the adventure that comes in the beginner game. If you guys are interested in running that one, I can copy it over and try that one. I wanted to start with that since I'm new to it and if anyone else is new to it too, we can learn together.
I'm not exactly new to the system, but haven't played in a while. But really I wouldn't want to play the beginner game unless you allowed created characters, which would be a little abnormal
Cool glad to see things heating up around here. I have mostly everything in books but havent actually played a game yet. I like the system and have been eager to get a campaign going. I have made a few characters using the PC generator.
Edge of the Empire Age of Rebellion Force and Destiny; don't actually have this one myself And the PC generator is https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/index.php?/topic/89135-another-character-generator/
Thanks. Only played edge and it may have been the Beta book. It was a while back. So, for whoever is GM, I need those three? I am pretty fresh in this and I hope I don't make a character that ends up a copy of someone else. Is it possible to make a flamethrower based gadget guy bounty hunter type in this or is someone already doing that?
Haha, I think the most would be three. ;) Since it is the beginner game, I assume we will start with 'basic' characters (no extra xp or Credits) so you can use any of the core rule books for character gen (pick a Career from one of the three core books then a race from any sourcebook). We will need a little GM guidance on Morality/Obligation/Duty.
Hmm...I actually don't know of a Sourcebook wrist or forearm one. The best bet is just a Flame Projector in the EotE Core Rulebook but it's a large gun.
I swear in the EotE book, when I played, there was a forearm mount attatchment that works on heavy ranged weapons of specific makes, and in the flame projector mod it counted. unless it got errata.
Hmm...there is a Wrist Mount mod but that works on Ranged Light. There is also a Pistol Grip which can turn Ranged Heavy weapons into Ranged Light weapons. But, both won't fit on the Flame Projector. I don't know of another Weapon Attachment that will do that...I could just be missing it though! Anyone else have any thoughts?
I wonder if they removed it. Maybe it was called forearm grip or something. I swear I saw it in Edge of the Empire and it was for rifles and things marked carbine, and the flame projector somehow got the carbine designation. A site I just looked at says EotE CRB page 190.
Oh, yeah, there is a Forearm Grip! That reduces the difficulty of making Engaged checks with Ranged weapons. It's not a device to mount a weapon on a character.
See then I am trying to understand just what IS a forearm grip then if it isn't a grip on your forearm? Edit: I just googled what a forearm grip is online on real guns. I feel stupid now.
I looked for a Star Wars picture but could not find one... It's the thing right next to the person's left-most hand: In general, it's a grip attached on a rifle's barrel that allows for better control of the weapon in tight spots. Edit: Sorry, didn't see your edit!
Well I don't if this is the correct way but here is the link: https://app.roll20.net/join/824411/viqYng
