LFPs for a BRP game.

For those who aren't familiar with BRP it's basically a more generic less squiddy version of Call of Cthulhu, which is a D100 roll under system. Now for the TLDR readers, basically to sum it up as short as possible. I've been given permission by the GM to recruit about 4 players for a "Anything goes, multiverse game" Which the best example I can give for what that means would be that it's like a "Rifts" game, just all the different genres aren't all on top of each other at once creating a hail storm of mega damage. We generally only use maps when it's requested by the players so as to keep combat and such flowing, and most the games are played over Skype. Presently we have about 3 active players. If you're interested, please leave a comment with any questions or character concepts you might be interested in, and I'll get back to you whenever I'm available. Anyways, onto the details. We have a couple basic table rules being. "Rule 1, A game is for fun Rule 2, Keep it in your pants Rule 3, Thou shalt not invoke Monty Python at the table Rule 4, Voice concerns and ask questions whenever you have trouble Rule 5, Have realistic expectations, not everyone will be taking it as seriously or not seriously as you. Rule 6, Keep in mind, it's only a game, there is also nothing preventing you from killing them right back. Rule 7, Assume nothing, the Gm is a jerk and likes to play on your assumptions. Rule 8, If it can be done in real, it can most definitely be done in this game. Rule 9, Life is harsh, this game mimics that, whilst being forgiving in penalties, it can end very quickly if you get careless. Rule 10, Refer to rule 1-9, it's for fun, if you are not having fun, state why and how it can be addressed." And 1 simple character generation rule being. "No being outright immune to the game world right off the bat" After all if you start out being untouchable then what would your character have to aspire too? Though onto things you can do, since this is a multiverse "Anything goes" type of game, that means you could in fact start out as anything from a simple paraplegic orphaned child in a nuclear wasteland, to a Professionally trained navy seal from the year 2286. We also support the use of just about any source book including 3rd party content or content from other systems such as D&D, GURPS and CoC just to name a few, just as long as it makes some level of sense and can be explained. And just to give a example of what the players have been up to since the game's started. Presently all the current players have elected to make "Meta versions of their real selves" And we've stumbled upon a strange cult like organization that's been abducting people and brain washing them into joining them, they also have some form of inter-dimensional travel devices that we've been referring to as "Jump pads" which allows them to invade other universes to "recruit" more unsuspecting people, through a semi successful raid, we've managed to steal one of their jump pads, and though we have no idea how to set in coordinates properly we've managed to figure out how to use them to randomly hop to different universes and how to return to the last location we jumped from, using this we've been lucky to discover a universe where magic and gold are bountiful and have been able to earn some gold coins there and brought them back to normal earth and sold them for a decent amount of cash. At the moment two of the active players have elected to begin training to prepare for future raids against the cultists, one has found a master to train him in the ways of a monk, while the other has elected to become a cleric of the church of "Pelor". Though things aren't all peachy, since we've also been unlucky enough to get what we've been referring to as "nightmare" worlds using the jumper pad and have had to fight to survive against alien mega fauna and swarms of heavily equipped raiders, and every moment we're training is more time the cultist have to amass hundred to even thousands more innocent people across the multiverse to whatever their presently unknown goals are. So if you're interested please leave a message and I'll try and get back to as soon as possible. And like I said towards the top, we mainly use Skype for the games, and the schedule is presently dynamic. Presently there are 4 spots open.
Also almost forgot to mention. Most the players are from the US so most our games take place around 6PM US-Central time. Give or take an hour.
I am possibly interested. It largely depends on which day. Right now I think the best time would be 7:00 on Tuesdays. I am concerned about tech level disparities. At any rate, I have the book and a number of supplements. If it works for me to join, then I would like to know the limits of my options.
Well as I said above, the game schedule is dynamic at the moment, so we can play just about any time that the GM is available and the players are around and willing to play, so Tuesday at around 7 should be doable. About the only day that's not available is Fridays. And as for the tech level disparities, we generally use real world balancing, since in most cases a guy with a assault rifle is going to win against a guy with a sword, that's not to say that the guy with the sword couldn't win if he for example had a team of coordinated swordsmen, or was sneakier than the gunner is perceptive, or even was trained to use some form of magical martial arts style that would allow super human feats and so on. And the same could be said for the gunner in question as well. And assuming that you're referring to limitations on character gen, the only major rules is that you can't be outright immune to the game world, no gods, and no immortals. Otherwise your options are sort of limitless. If you're interested in a list of examples of characters that could be made, just for ideas, then I could probably make one.
S G sent me a link to over here and it definitely sounds interesting. don't see much on rules though, also im fine with the time but around what day do you play?
I would like to join
I have no expierence but it quick to learn I would be extremely happy if you let me join
BRP Quick start @Zapy. Well for rules we use Chaosium's Basic RolePlaying 4th edition As for what day, the days we usually play is from Mondays through Thursdays, and sometimes on weekends, really it's whenever the GM and the players are around and want to play. @Owen. You're welcome to join, and Basic roleplay is pretty simple to learn, plus we're new player friendly.
Hello Sir T G, I was hoping you might be able to tell me if this system of yours could support a particular character that I have been trying to play in a group setting to limited sucess. The idea is a Lizardfolk character that has his tribe assaulted with a chemical bomb, with the deadly active agent being mutagenic. By and large his fellow tribesman died from massive systemic shock after a series of rapid and chaotic mutations, but Xarokth and a few others instead survived the ordeal and became creatures I have dubbed 'High Evolutionary'. Normally the concept of evolution plays out over thousands or millions of years, but a High Evolutionary has its genes rendered mutable - they are undergoing constant mutation in order to survive. I am not sure that I have adequately explained it. However, your story about the jumpers to a myriad of other worlds and the cult attempting to recruit such a significant following seem like the perfect backdrop to play out this character with how open character creation appears to be. Hopefully I am correct in that assumption, as I am dying just for the chance to play him true to how I envision him. Eagerly, Tim
Should be easily doable. Especially since BRP supports Mutations and has plenty of stats and information to create or run one. Sounds like a interesting character concept. We would probably have to discuss some of the details but you should be able to run it like how you envision it, just as long as it doesn't go against the three character gen rules of "No being outright immune to the game world and no immortals or gods" You're welcome to join, and I'll send you my Skype info and answer any questions you might have from there.
Hey, never played this before but interested in joining if you'll have me. Thinking something along the lines of a archer/sniper. Not really sure about the rules of the game, but i am a quick learner and willing to try it sincerely. -JP
If there's still a slot open here, I'm game. The metaversion of themsevles tihng made me think of playing a wolfman in armor... yeah.
@JP A Archer/sniper character should be doable, and we're happy to answer any questions you might have about the rules of the game. @WarJack Presently we have only 1 perspective player out of the four open slots so we'd be happy to have you. And should be doable. Will send Skype contact info.
i'm... interested? multiverse games can go either way really fast. my skype is Kspigel, i'd be interested in talking to you guys. in a world-jumping everything plus the talking anthropomorphoic kitchen sink games, what i want to explore more than ahything else is the "how does it work when these thigns collide" aspects. This means that by necessity, i'd be mostly interested in ther rules for you multi-dimentional... physics? the what can it can can't it do parts. and if the answer is "it's magic" or "it's tech" and i should threfor "not worry about it" than this is not the game for me. please let me know. to be clear, i'm TOTALLY comfortable with "i can't tell you for plot reasons" that i'm down with. it's the "there are no rules or logic because it's (insert trope here)" that will make me feel like rolling my eyes.
