Newbie LFG D&D 3.5 one-off

Hey folks, I'm hoping to find someone/a group willing to help me get my feet wet with D&D 3.5. I'm not able to commit to a regular game at the moment but I would like to learn the system and then be able to find something in the future! I have searched using the LFG widget and didn't see anything that really matched this, so I'm posting instead. Much obliged to anyone willing! PS/FYI - I am UTC-6 and am far more available after 8:00PM. Can do earlier on some weekends. (Like I said scheduling things is wacky right now) PPS (edit) - I'm a veteran role-player, but my experience is all through single player RPG PC games and MMORPGs (both in game and associated stuff on external forums). So, not really new to the concepts, mainly the mechanics and the tabletop setting.

There is a pathfinder society around that runs games constantly. Look around for them. Pathfinder is very similar to 3.5, a lot of people refer to it as 3.75

Thanks Metroknight, I've looked into Pathfinder Society and will hopefully be able to sneak into a game at some point soon. The system does seem to be a bit different from 3.5, so I'm going to continue hoping for something in that rule set as well. (bump)
