GM Looking for Players (3.5) CURRENTLY CLOSED

Hey guys. Im setting up a campaign to run for the next two to three months, and need a few players. The game will be weekly on Sundays, starting at 2 p.m. Eastern and likely running to around 6, and the first session will be September 30th. Its going to be way more role play as opposed to roll play, so don't plan on a whole lot of combat. The idea is that the players fill specific roles in a Transylvania-esque mining town suffering from all sorts of typical Transylvanian themes: Vampires, Werewolves, the like. The PCs are going to have to band together to figure out whats going on and try to stop it before its too late. To put it into a simple comparison, think VanHelsing meets Sherlock Holmes. There will be fights, but they wont be an extremely frequent occurrence, so skill rolls will be more common than combat rolls. Ive got three specific slots to fill, and as soon as they fill up, the game will begin. The roles are: PRIEST - FILLED SHERIFF - FILLED (VAMPIRE/WEREWOLF/ECT) SLAYER - FILLED RANGER/WOODSMAN - TENTATIVELY FILLED You can think outside the box for making your character so long as its thematically sound. For example, the priest is a bard, rather than a cleric, playing as more of the preachy scholar type. The ranger is basically in charge of patrolling the surrounding forest and keeping dibs on the animal population. The class ranger lends well to that, but you could just as well be a fighter, or a rouge. The Sheriff is in charge of carrying out the laws the magistrate lays down within the town, and the slayer has been sent out by the church to investigate the occult happenings. Magic is ok so long as you can make it fit the theme, and its going to use a simplified form of Christianity as the religious basis: God vs Satan, good vs evil kind of themes. If you think youd be into this, go ahead and write me up a character of the role you want. If I get more than one person vying for one of the roles, Ill likely go for whoever has thought out their character the most, so dont be afraid to make an elaborate back story. Characters will be level 4. Skype will be used for voice chat, and Ill edit this as spots become filled.
Hi. This sounds really interesting for me and the time frame fits to (It starts 02:00pm EST ?). My idea is to play a character who is into magic like a Wizard or a Bladesinger to fill the slot of a "Sheriff". Investigating with some arcane help like scrying I am not sure about the restrictions of magic (spells) for that setting thought. I could think of all kind of magic in such a setting, so I am not sure what would fit the theme in your point of view.
Hi I would like to join the game as the slayer but can you tell me what level we are before i decide on my class and backstory
Hi everyone, both valid questions. Jochen, that is what time I plan on running it, and basically, youre allowed any magic you can make thematically fit into the campaign as long as you can explain how you got it in your back story. Finding a holy artifact that grants you access to weird powers, coming from a family thats been perfecting witchcraft for generations... theres a whole lot of possibilities, you just need to make sure theres a reason behind it. Kevin, you guys would be level 4, and Ive updated the post to show that. Thanks for pointing out that I missed that, its kind of crucial info.
Thanks, good to know. I am thinking of old books with lost knowledge. And to gather new spells maybe I could pay some contacts to travel the world looking for other books that are similar ?! What date are you looking forward to start the story ? What do you need to fill me in the slot and when ?
That concept works perfectly fine with me. Im looking to start as soon as possible, so likely the 30th if the other spots fill by then. And what Im really looking for to make it concrete is a character, so if you could get your sheet to me within the next few days, that would be great.
My background is that i was raised in a village of assassins we lurk in the shadows and hunted in the night. My village specialty is hunting werewolf. About 7years ago my village received a job from a man who wanted us to hunt down a pack of werewolf living south of a city. While most of the clan were out on the job, the village was attacked by a clan of werewolf and they were all wiped out I was the only survivor. A few hours after the attack a man showed with a large sword he cut down the werewolf that remained in the village. He found me. He took me in and raised me to be strong and taught me how to fight all mana of evil beings. He left about a year ago to check out a village but never returned now I must go and find him. My class would be something on the lines of a ninja. Also i can start whenever
The other thing is what dice rolls for stats (5d6, 4d6, elite array)? Are there any race or class restrictions? How much money do we have for gear?
5d6 for stats seems a bit much ... even if you take away the two worst rolls. But it would be nice to know how to get the stats. I would be fine if you roll the stats for me and I place them.
what you said doesn’t make sense
What Kevin's saying is that 5d6 drop 2 just leads to generally higher scores, unless you're very, very unlucky. Use elite array though, and go ahead and start off with the standard 5400 gold for a level four character. As for your other questions Kevin; You can take any race that is human-ish in appearance, and any class you can justify into your back story, and ninja fits your perfectly well. I am going to need a little more of the logic behind 'village of assassins' though, because I feel that even in a fantasy world, that's fairly unlikely. So if you could flesh it out a bit, that would be fantastic. How/why did the town form, whats a little of its history? Stuff like that.
If your still trying to fill that woodsman position,iv'e been trying to run a ranger or druid which ever would work best for you, though i was thinking as a twist how about a Elven/Shade,being that the whole setting is Transylvanian and i don't like vampires much but would love to play the shadowy figure.I guess i'll write up a back story and roll up my character, and just for the sake of role play could i knock off the adjustment it would harm the character i have in mind more than it would harm the over all flow of the game.Give me time as i aim to please!
I would like to join. It sounds very fun. In a game I play locally, I play a kitsune ninja, but I'm thinking of keeping her as is, she is classified as a humanoid shape-shifter... She is very fun, and has done some funny stuff with the past couple of campaigns I played as her.
I play a druid. Think I could join in?
Whoops, accidentally sent, what would a druid translate to do you think?
Alright my character is sorted out I am a ninja half elf. I am just putting together the final details. I will have more of a back-story for you tomorrow.

She is very fun, and has done some funny stuff with the past couple of campaigns I played as her. The kitsune/foxin races are one of my favourite to play but there is a problem with them. 1. The kitsune have ears and tails so it’s not very human. If i remember correctly they do have an altar self ability but it’s not permanent 2. you have a level adjustment +1 so u will be level 3 but you can do level buy off so you would eventually catch up to us But if Christapher B. dosent have a problem with it. It should be fun.
Kevin: Alright, I'm going to go ahead and slot in your spot then. Kornilius, William and Brittany: Seeing as I have but the one spot left open, and, unless there's some sort of conspiracy going on, the three of you are certainly not one person, I don't have room for each of you. If each of you writes up a character for me, I will take whomever best fits the campaign, and the other two will have priority if someone drops; you'd be alternates, so to say.
Also, to everyone involved, Ive edited the initial post to include the fact that it is currently closed and that we will begin this next week, which would be September 30th at 2PM.
Christapher B. just checking is your time zone is EST, CST. or if you send me a game link and put the time on it it should put it on my time.
Im on EST, which I believe is -4 right now.
