Bored? Tired of scrolling LFG looking for a game when you want to play now? Try this: Shadowrun 3rd edition Revolving Campaign EST/GMT -5..

Hi. This is a recruitment post that is a bit different. IRL I have a career where my time off is variable and I never really know when I'm going to have a few hours to run a game. What I'm trying to accomplish is to put together a pool of players that want to game when I'm on. At the bare minimum, this will be a weekly game. I'm opening it up to as many people who want to contact me and put together a PC. I'll save it and send you a copy. Then if you are scrolling through with time to kill and/or give me contact info, I'll notify everyone and we'll do a run. The game: Shadowrun 3rd edition (Don't worry, I'm an old hand at this game. I've ran and played it since the books came out and spent several years as an immortal on an SR text MUD. ) The setting: 2064 Seattle. The PCs are criminals ekeing out a living by doing criminal things for money. If you've never heard of it, here's the elevator pitch: It's a world like our own but magic and mythical creatures exist. Magic returned to the world along with massive advances in technology and science. Megacorporations have supplanted the governments of the world and when they need their dirty work done, they call on shadowrunners, non citizens who don't exist on government databases to pull off espionage for them. Also google Shadowrun wiki and read. Downloading the Quick Start rules from Catalyst can't hurt either. The players: Smooth talking faces, tech savvy Riggers with drones and tricked out vehicles, Deckers who use cyberdecks to crack the virtual Matrix and learn its secrets, Shamans who are guided by a totem animal and use spirits, Spell casting Mages, Physical Adepts who use magic to perform superhuman feats, Street Samurai guns for hire generally tricked out with the latest in cyberware, and many many others. The system: Shadowrun 3rd edition is a dice pool system which means you roll your Skill/Attribute/Gear dice and look for successes. I use TN 4 as base and apply modifiers then we see how well you did. You only botch if all of your dice come up ones. In addition, you have Karma (XP) Pool to use for rerolls and avoiding death.  Anatomy of a Run: Generally it goes like this: Meeting your Fixer who directs you to Mr. Johnson (a title for corp headhunters who hire criminals) who gives you the details about the run. Using scouting and your Contacts, the team does Legwork and comes up with a plan. Then you execute the plan, get the goodie/accomplish the mission, get back to Mr. J and get paid. House Rules and Such: We use Google+Hangouts, so if you are interested, get your system in order. Also, interested parties who PM me need to send an email addy so I can send you my Campaign Guide, The Twenty Questions, and the CLUE files (a primer on how NOT to do a run :) ). In closing, if you've got nothing better to do, why not come kill a few hours playing a futuristic criminal? It's more fun than dungeon crawling. :)
I would love to play Shadowrun but I have no idea how to play :(
Not a problem. Send me an e-mail Addy and I'll set you up. It looks complicated but I'm used to new players. You might want to read the SR wiki
Sounds like a party, i'll find some shadowrun stuff.
SR3... I think I have the corebook somewhere :D Count me in. Expect a very detailed character on your PM inbox in a few days! (also, I'd really enjoy if it's gritty and dark, no cartoon SR as I've seen happen, where blood and gore are a-ok but the moment you put some actual personality -or bodily functions- in your character people gross out)
Pablo the name of the campaign is blood and ferrocrete. I don't mind funny moments but my SR tends to be more Sin City less Cool World if you catch my drift. I'd say it definitely comes with a M rating. And I dig detailed PCs.
If anyone's interested, I'm online for the next few hours.
Also thought of a better way to describe this. It's a perpetual pickup game with different runners (or maybe the same ones?) every time. As soon as I get two or more people on and ready to go, we run. Then I'll make notes as to where we left off, changes to sheets, etc etc. and we move on.
I'd love to play! I've always been interested in the SR settings and games but have not yet seen a noob-friendly game on here during my times (which are variable). So, if you're willing to teach the system I'm willing to do the homework to make it as smooth as possible.
can this guy play right here
Sent you both PMs. If you guys want to go right now, we can. I'm free for the next few hours. I can give a list of archetypes, you can pick one, we can rock and roll and then if you want to make a different runner for the stable, I'm down.
hi just dropped you a message on the shadowrun site, any chance i can join you guys?
PM sent Lisa. Let me know what you need.
Sending invites now
Hey, I'm new to table-top games in general, but I'm interested in learning! I'm a fast learner! Skype: Klimmit
Actually we are using Google Plus Hangout. Sending you the link and we'll sort out characters once we get ya online
I'm free most days due to a weird work schedule. Always wanted to try some shadowrun so I'd love if you hit me up.
Link is up on the campaign
Could I get a skype invite or something else so we could talk Murphy?
Hey, I'd be interested in joining your pool party. I'm new to tabletops, mostly only playing D&D4E in the and looking to expand into other games. I've always been interested in Shadowrun; the genre is a lot more interesting than a group of knights going to save a princess or something, returning and getting some pats on the back. The necromancer isn't going to offer you double your money to kill the king instead when you enter his lair. I've played a few sessions of 4e Shadowrun, but my hand was held very tightly and I never understood magic or hacking; never played 3rd.
alright. Go get the quickstart rules and read the Shadowrun wiki so you get  a feel for what kind of PC you think you'd like to play. Then send me an email addy and I'll set you up with a character. When I'm on and running, I'll send a mass mail to everyone and we'll go. My system works cause I got three players tonight with no problem. I'm very easy on newbies so don't let that scare ya off
Still got room for players? All my experience is with the fourth edition. Currently lacking any of the third edition books, including the core. Depending on what night this occurs on I can probably make it. I just signed up with google+ thus not at all familiar with it. Skype information is Lurker/jacob.edrington. Times would likely be early on weekends or early/late during weekdays.
Not a problem, Lurker. I have a campaign guide I can send you and several pregen characters. If you dl the QuickStart 3rd edition rules from the Catalyst site, that should give you enough as far as system goes. The way it works is you make a PC and we both have a copy of the sheet. When I'm running, I'll put out a general call and we see who shows up. I'm very easy on newbies and not a killer GM. So fire me an email addy and we can do something
ITS ON! Game in T-30 minutes. Be there or be square, chummers. :)
Hey there. New member here who's been looking to get in on a 3E Shadowrun game for a long time! I've never played it before, but I have a pretty large set of the books that I bought used, and have enjoyed them as reading material for some months now. This game sounds absolutely wonderful and I would be quite interested if there's still any room. I'm available pretty much any day of the week, except for late sunday evenings (about four hours from now). I could use a pregen character if you'd prefer, but I would also be interested in rolling up a character of my own for practice. I'll send you my email address and start thinking up character concepts!
Game is full for today. But feel free to submit your sheet and get in touch later.
It's on for this evening. 2000 EST
Hey, I just completed a character sheet earlier today, sending it in now. If there's no room for me in today's session, please let me know when there'll be an open slot! Edit: Well, I'm unable to "print" any html files with the NSRCG. Thus I'm going to have to transfer everything manually onto a PDF, unless you have the NSRCG as well. I may not be able to make this session, ah well, at  least you can evaluate my character for the next one. Double Edit: Got it to work now, it's viewable as HTML, sending them. If it's too late for tonight I'd love to play next session you have available! Triple Edit: Sent links to the character sheet in DropBox.
Got em. As far as a slot, we'll have to see on that
