Hi. This is a recruitment post that is a bit different. IRL I have a career where my time off is variable and I never really know when I'm going to have a few hours to run a game. What I'm trying to accomplish is to put together a pool of players that want to game when I'm on. At the bare minimum, this will be a weekly game. I'm opening it up to as many people who want to contact me and put together a PC. I'll save it and send you a copy. Then if you are scrolling through with time to kill and/or give me contact info, I'll notify everyone and we'll do a run. The game: Shadowrun 3rd edition (Don't worry, I'm an old hand at this game. I've ran and played it since the books came out and spent several years as an immortal on an SR text MUD. ) The setting: 2064 Seattle. The PCs are criminals ekeing out a living by doing criminal things for money. If you've never heard of it, here's the elevator pitch: It's a world like our own but magic and mythical creatures exist. Magic returned to the world along with massive advances in technology and science. Megacorporations have supplanted the governments of the world and when they need their dirty work done, they call on shadowrunners, non citizens who don't exist on government databases to pull off espionage for them. Also google Shadowrun wiki and read. Downloading the Quick Start rules from Catalyst can't hurt either. The players: Smooth talking faces, tech savvy Riggers with drones and tricked out vehicles, Deckers who use cyberdecks to crack the virtual Matrix and learn its secrets, Shamans who are guided by a totem animal and use spirits, Spell casting Mages, Physical Adepts who use magic to perform superhuman feats, Street Samurai guns for hire generally tricked out with the latest in cyberware, and many many others. The system: Shadowrun 3rd edition is a dice pool system which means you roll your Skill/Attribute/Gear dice and look for successes. I use TN 4 as base and apply modifiers then we see how well you did. You only botch if all of your dice come up ones. In addition, you have Karma (XP) Pool to use for rerolls and avoiding death. Anatomy of a Run: Generally it goes like this: Meeting your Fixer who directs you to Mr. Johnson (a title for corp headhunters who hire criminals) who gives you the details about the run. Using scouting and your Contacts, the team does Legwork and comes up with a plan. Then you execute the plan, get the goodie/accomplish the mission, get back to Mr. J and get paid. House Rules and Such: We use Google+Hangouts, so if you are interested, get your system in order. Also, interested parties who PM me need to send an email addy so I can send you my Campaign Guide, The Twenty Questions, and the CLUE files (a primer on how NOT to do a run :) ). In closing, if you've got nothing better to do, why not come kill a few hours playing a futuristic criminal? It's more fun than dungeon crawling. :)
