I just finished submitting my first 5 packs of art to the Marketplace today, so while I anxiously wait for them to go live, I thought it might be helpful to offer some suggestions on the process while it's fresh in my mind. First I want to say thanks to everyone at Roll20 who makes the marketplace go. It's a great opportunity and a great service. These are just suggestions based on my experience. Add suggested file-size for entire packs to the FAQ. Right now it only tells you the max file size for an individual image. I spent a few hours googling around the forums trying to make sure my sets wouldn't be too large and get me rejected. A suggested filesize for packs would be helpful during compression, and would make it easier to gauge how many items to include in a given set, and put a cap on possible "quantity over quality" (600 tokens for $4.99!!!) abuses. Broader General FAQ; it's very bare-bones right now. While I understand you may want to restrict some information, perhaps you could include a pdf or broader faq once artists are approved. Just some other questions had that I still don't really have answers to, or really, really had to dig for: How do sets get featured? Should I be hopeful/helpful and include banners for those? How do I find out when my pack goes live? Can I track my sales, or what tags people find things with? How? Submissions are updated "periodically"...what does that mean? Monthly? Weekly? Bi-annually? Can I edit or revise a set after it has already been published, say if features or functionality (blend modes, Warcraft 2 style fog of war...)is added, or someone points out a bug? Is there a point of contact I can ask these questions or should I try the forums? Explain the "next step" at each phase a little more fully. Right now there are a lot of veils that information is hidden behind. I understand why, but it can be somewhat unnecessarily irksome at times. For example, you don't learn how Roll20 wants you to do tags until you've been approved, then sent in the email that your first pack - which you now may have to rename - is ready. You learn that the next email will tell you how to upload, but will it be ftp? Email? A new drop down in my roll20 account? Can I bulk upload a whole set? Or do I need to do it asset by asset? This could be disseminated earlier in the process, and save artists a lot of time and stress hunting and researching. Again, I don't want to be negative. I'm just bringing it up to possibly help smooth out the kinks in the process while I still thinking about it. (All day. Waiting. Eeeeee so excited.) The process and community so far have been overwhelmingly positive. Thanks!
