Player/GM LFG for a solid campaign ~ Mountain Time, temporarily flexible schedule!

Greetings, fellow gamer! I would like to form a group or be inducted into one for a long/multiple campaign(s). I am tired of one shots, and want to experience a good story building opportunity with others! Currently I have nothing restricting the times I can be on, though in the next couple of weeks, that will change. Into what, I do not know, but for the time being I can play and be online to my hearts content. Here is a bit about myself: Me as a GM: I am an experienced GM, though only by necessity. Most of the time, I'm surrounded by bad GM's. You know who they are. They are the ones who are out to kill the players and see them as nothing more than cannon fodder; either that, or they are just so inexperienced they can't move the story or combat along at all without checking the book every 2 seconds. I'm not going to say I'm a particularly good GM, but everybody who has ever been a player in one of my games usually gives my sessions either a 9 or 10 out of 10, so I'll take that as a good sign (probably because of the comparison between my style and that of the others I mentioned). I am however, as a GM at least, very prone to procrastination, and can be very lacking in knowledge of the rules depending on how new to the system I am. Most of the time, I end up just playing things by ear (though I do have a basic outline of what should and could happen). I like Narrative and Descriptive styles, as they play to my strengths. I am the type of guy who likes to play the Rule of Cool, and will fudge rolls if it makes the game better in some way. That does not mean I will give players unlimited lives; I expect my players to follow common sense. Sometimes, a player does not know something the character should, in which case I'll try to alleviate the gap in information in some way, but if a player expects to go around being murder hobos in a political/social style campaign, then their asses are getting taken down by whatever security force exists in that world. I also expect my players to be mature. Even though it is a pet peeve of mine, I know that table-talk is also part of getting together for a session, but I also like to keep things moving along at a good rate (Immersion is big for me). Me as a Player: I am an eager player. My favourite part is usually character creation, because most other GM's I've ever played with are my complete antithesis. I've only ever had 1 GM that I've truly enjoyed playing under, because she was perfectly prepared beforehand (unlike me), got into the characters she was playing, was smart and quick enough to make things up on the fly if we broke the game, and managed to keep us under the illusion that weren't playing on a rail road. If table-talk got out of hand, she was swift with her iron fist, bringing us back into proper immersion. That would be the kind of GM I would dream of playing under again, if it were up to me. I like diving into the rules and the lore, and ask lots of questions if I am new to a system. Though I enjoy it a bunch, and want to develop my talent for it more, my role-playing needs a bit of work. I absolutely love using accents vivid descriptions to try to flesh out my characters, if at all possible (and not game-breaking), even though those need work too. I tend to lean more towards logical paths of action, and try to play my character as if I were in their shoes. A confession I have to make though, is I love to power-game at the same time. What can I say, I like to have as many advantages as I can get away with. Blame it on trying to survive Player-Killer GM's. I can be quiet at times, but that's usually because I'm trying to think of the best path of action for my character; I have no qualms about being active in conversations, arguments, and just plain being silly. I have the most fun when the GM is coordinated enough, and the players are all in a rhythm together. I also pride myself as one of the few players who is fully capable of separating in-game knowledge from out-of-game knowledge. I loathe metagaming with a passion. Games I'd like to GM or Play in: I am the most familiar with Eclipse Phase (I own all the books and supplements, know all the best links, and have a substantial plethora of imagery and characters built for this game), and Pathfinder (I just love this game. I only own about 20 books of it though). I have been both a player and a GM for both of these systems, and find character creation to be a cinch (I can stat a character for both in less than 30 minutes). If I were to have a preference for any types of games, it would be those two. However, I also own a spattering of other books and pdfs, and am not opposed to playing others. Other games I'd like to play at some point, in no particular order are included below: Iron Kingdoms, Shadowrun, A Song of Ice and Fire, Dragon Age, 13th Age, Apocalypse World, Dungeons the Dragoning, New World of Darkness (Hunter, Mage, Sin-Eaters, and all its other splats), Burning Wheel, Anima: Beyond Fantasy, Call of Cthulu, Firefly, Mindjammer, and Mutants & Masterminds. How I would like to play: I would like to be part of an active group who play roughly once every week, or once every couple weeks at the least. I want to be able to talk in real time as well (I just recently purchased a shiny new microphone), and abhor text based communication (I would like to think I am a scholarly fellow competent with basic literary functions, but I just cannot type fast). I don't mind being on camera, and don't mind being streamed or featured on Youtube videos if our sessions were to be posted. I will refuse to play with a group smaller than 5, mostly because I usually only ever have 2 available players as a GM, and that's just super frustrating. I've tried to use the audio system here on Roll20, but it didn't seem to work very well, and am thus not opposed to Skype as a means of communication. Ideally, I'd like to be part of a long and in-depth campaign, with lots of action and mystery and intrigue. If you would like to know more, or would like to recruit coerce me into becoming a part of your game, please, let me know here or with a PM. I look forward to hearing from the community here, and cannot wait to start gaming!
Well, if you start a game or anything, I would love to play with you, you seem like a decent fellow, although I have never played a table top game before and the extent of my knowledge of them comes from videos online. I am, however a quick learner and eager to try out these types of games.
I would love to play a game with you but you will most probably have to hold my hand through the beginning.
Greetings friends! Having read this article I have to say that both of you gentlemen seem like wonderful GMs! I have a group of people who have been looking for someone to run the Rise of the Runelords adventure path on Fridays at 6-7PM UTC and I was wondering if either of you would be interested in running this for us? We have a range of players from the very experienced to the completely new, all we need is someone to guide us through the journey. If you are interested then feel free to PM me with your skype details and we can discuss further.
Sweet! Thanks for your swift replies people. Honestly, I would prefer to play EP, as it is a bit more of a rarity, but I wouldn't mind trying my hand a Rise of the Runelords either. I have the book on my desk right now actually, funny coincidence that one. You must live somewhere on the other side of the world from myself, Luke, because that would put me as attempting to GM at roughly midnight where I live ha-ha. I could probably do it, but it wouldn't be easy for me. If you could introduce me to your group, and we could hash out some details of what each party could offer, I might consider it. Owl, null, I wouldn't mind introducing you both to the fun times of tabletop gaming. If we can gather a few more people, I would definitely love to help you two out, and to see what could develop from there. In the meantime, I will scan over the LFG section once more, to see if there are any more people who'd like to get together. If you all have any questions, or suggestions, do not hesitate.
If you play on running a game Aeroscathe I would love to join in. I've have a ton of experience with Pathfinder and I would love to give Eclipse Phase a try. Its been pretty hard finding a good long term group since I work night shifts and have sort of a wonky schedule.
If you're still looking for Players, I think I'd be interested. I'm a fairly new player looking to join a new group. I've never DMed, so I can't do a wonderful intro like the rest of you, but I do truly enjoy story driven plots. I've played WoD, HERO system, a little pathfinder, M&M, and some others thrown in. Never actually played D&D game though. I am on West coast time though, and am unable to play before 11pm est. This seems to be my biggest issue finding a game. If you plan on playing late enough, and are still on the look out for some players, please keep me in mind.
It is such a shame that most of these schedules are not lining up very well. Are there any people out there who share days off? :P
I may have two for you. I'll have to check with my friend. I'm central time and he's eastern but we both have schedules that run fairly late so weekend games might work.

I'd be really interested in an Eclipse Phase game if you decide to run with that, but timing for me is also tricky. I'm in PDT and I'm mainly available on Sunday mornings (til 4pm) or in the evenings after 8pm (so it looks like Wendy and I have similar time constraints). I can also occasionally run some one shots of the GM needs a night off. Here some more information about me: Me as a GM: I have a moderate amount of experience as a GM, also out of necessity because I've had a hard time finding a game. I've GMed several different groups in a number of different games but mainly Trail of Cthulhu, A Dirty World and Cthulhu Dark. I like to GM mystery games and have a tendency towards noir-ish games with a lot of grey areas as far as morality goes. I try to be a fair GM who never seeks to screw over the players, I'm just interested in telling a good story together. Me as a Player: I'm interested in working with the other people at the table to tell an interesting story. To play my character in a way that sometimes increases drama and tension, but that still generally moves the story forward. I will occasionally try to do something cool with my character, but I will also often try to set other characters up to do cool things. Games I like to Run: A Dirty World is great for noir games. Cthulhu dark is really easy to run and a fun game. I'm also a fan of running the Gumshoe system (Trail of Cthulhu, Night's Black Agents). I'd can also facilitate collaborative storytelling games like Fiasco and The Quiet Year. Games I like to Play: Eclipse Phase, Night's Black Agents, Delta Green (Call of Cthulhu), and all of the games above are all games that I'd like to play. I don't really want to play fantasy on a regular basis if that's where you decide to go with the group. I'm also interested in playing in the FFG Star Wars system. How I Would Like to Play: I'd like a weekly group, over Roll20, with voice. I'm willing to do camera if others want to. I'm also cool with recording the games if anyone wants to have access to them after the fact, or we can not if anyone is bothered by that. I'd like to do a longer campaign in Eclipse Phase. think it would be cool to have someone run an EP campaign and then I (or other people) could occasionally run a one-shot that takes place in the same universe with different characters that may or may not have effects on the main campaign. And we could also run some one-shots and mini-campaigns occasionally when we need a break from the EP campaign.
T. Night R. said: I mistakenly made the above post using my alt account. This is my main, if you'd like to see my hours played, etc.
Just putting it out there.... I've never played EP but I am experienced in PF. I am currently unable to GM due to lack of prep time. If a games gets up and running and my schedule lines up, I'd be happy to join. Mon-thus anytime after 8pm est. Fri and sun anytime after 10pm est
Hi did you ever get a game going? A friend and I are interested in playing Mindjammer or some other sci-fi RPG

This is certainly an interesting approach. Surprised I haven't seen it before. I'm an epic narrative GM now pushing age 50, gaming for 39 years that is sort of if it can be said simulationist at the same time. i.e. Here's the situation,  roll all the dice in the open, gritty healing, i.e. it takes a while so combat is infrequent, but deadly. No Raise Dead, no Resurrection., healing is expensive and slow. I am a fan of Run if you think you are in a death spiral. Life is a death spiral. I run Traveller, Savage Worlds (Post Apoc Zombie), and 5e here on roll20.  Some military themes crop up in those there, because I retired from the military. I feel like when writing the scenario tailor it to the characters, fail forward, but roll it out and call it, like a judge. No script immunity, and I advertise all of that well in advance. As a player, I like to play sci fi games where I can use science to solve human problems. Or I like to play a Jedi. Or a spy. Or a military person. I can speak bit parts of many languages so I can do accents. I prefer supporting roles, unless there is absolutely no leader, then I'll step up and lead, till we develop a leader. My Thu 5e game is full with 7, but I wanted to say hello, and likely over the year we will game together since I have Eclipse phase, (and a love of sci fi so much I'm writing it) but right now, for the better part of a year, I'm running 5e. Welcome to the community, and hello to fellow Dms, and new players I have not met.
