Using cards as spell cards

I have created a few custom card decks where each card lists a spell and its information. My intention was to hand out individual spell cards to the spellcaster character depending on which spell he/she had chosen for the day and they play the card when they cast the spell thus keeping track of which spells they have left (which cards they are still holding). I guess my question is: how do I hand out certain cards to the spell casters instead of just randomly dealing the cards to them?

You would have to make individual smaller decks for each caster and then deal them all the cards in the deck directly.  It then should work just like you want it to.

Alternately, deal the cards to yourself or the table then delete the cards to put them in the discard pile. From there you can view the cards and select which ones you want.  - Gauss
