When last we left our merry band of adventurers... Day 1 wrap up: The group spent some time thinking about how to best take out the 6 armed battlebots and as we moved into position to attack the robots, we noticed they were tracking. Kyle was able to determine that they would see any move against them as a threat and as such would respond with force. Having come to the conclusion that this may be detrimental to our well being, Yaz brings up the idea of jury rigging the truck battery to disable the robots vs. attacking them. Working with Eusyl and Kyle, the three are able to short circuit the battlebots in the truck. With them disabled, we begin to take what is easily available as we dont want to be around when the threats in Stainless Steel Storage (S3) come out. From the battlebots we salvage: 3 Sonic Disruptors - 2 are sold (Eusyl kept one.) 3 Laser Pistols - 3 are sold 6 Swords - 3 are sold (Kyle, Joseph and Rodworth kept one.) 6 Electric Swords - 5 are sold (Kyle(?) kept one.) As we pillage the robots, a Vrusk asks to assist and not trusting him, we say no. However we do give him a few pieces that he can sell and get some food with (Kyle was in particular was very interested in helping someone down on his luck.) The Vrusk's name is Ke'Krenik (sp) and he is burned, missing one arm. He promises to repay the kindness. We also confirm that these were Merco robots. After taking what was easy, we go into Quagmire's waiting to see who comes out of S3. Rodworth was hired as a bouncer and Joseph is taken into the back, disappearing for the rest of the night. While we wait rumors start to fly about what is happening and we continue to lay now. Eventually two things happen: Two geeky yazarians come out of S3, look in the truck and move on. a wrecker comes by to pick up the truck and what's left of the robots. In the back of Quagmire's Joseph is learning more about what is going on. It turns out that Quagmire is preparing for a major race and they need a medic to help them with part of their great scheme. After swearing Joseph to secrecy about what they are doing there, Joseph is asked to help them develop a drug that could keep their racer, Malamoff (sp). alive during massive gravitational effects.Joseph agrees and Quagmire offers Joseph resources and assistance in getting it done. The pay out is huge as the winner of this space race wins a small space station for a year. Day 2 - Let's Make some Money: The next day we take our haul from the battlebots to Gary's Guns (after removing the marks, etc.) and work out a deal to get .60 cents on the Styrigi. (Sale is noted above.) After purchasing some equiptment and battery paks, we walk away with 1,067 Styrigi. With our business done, we move on to our next capers. Kyle & Rodworth (Joseph was busy trying to figure something out - something about gravity, we're not sure) decide to go and pursue the missing girl opportunity. Rodworth wants to go and speak with the family and they head out to Alice Andra's home. Her home is in the Arbor Dome and it is one of the more expensive homes. The mansion is well guarded on an expansive property. Rodworth tries his luck at a direct approach and is rewarded with a face-to-face with the family's man, attache or something like that. Kylle and Rodworth are able to learn: The girl is the niece of Alice Andra The parents are dead - or at least that is what they want us to know She has no siblings The family has no known conflicts with the Mega-Corps The girl had a tracer, but it was identified, removed and flushed into the sewers and it ended up at sewage treatment center Confirmed that the kidnapping took place in the Capitol Dome, her 2 bodyguards were killed and it was an organized/professional abduction The assailants were human It is expected that the girl is still on the planet, though someone could have bought passage out of the planet They are given a business card with a direct line to the family answering service. Yaz & Eusyl head over to Feekur's Race Bar where Feekur, the freak, greets us enthusiastically. He introduces us to a Vrusk in business attire named Yar'Keer'red (sp) who is looking for a driver. After negotiating a deal for the first race, that includes Eusyl as Yaz's mechanic, double rate for 1st place and potentially more if we decide to work together in the future, we place our bets (everyone bet 50 Styrigi on 4:1 odds) and head out. The race is taking place on a lava flow, so there is some danger. Because of that Eusyl improves upon the hover cycle's durability while maintaining it's speed rating, which proves to be fortuitousness as Yaz barely makes it to the end. Eusyl, who they didnt want to hire orginally, does such a great job on the hover cycle that one of the independent mechanics, Chaz, wants to work for her. Yaz inspects the track, trying to see where he can gain some advantages and the race is on. It was a hard race with only 2 racers finishing, there were moments of dread as Yaz slid on the lava flow trying to take a turn, bumped the wall and dipped into the lava. Another instance, early in the race, Yaz took a turn hard spinning out, however was lucky to end in the direction he needed to go, making it look more like a great stunt. In one spin out he had 4 racers pass him by, however he quickly got back in it, rocket boosted pass them on the ramp and took a hair pin turn well enough to keep the lead, 2 hover cycles washed out on that turn. With the hover cycle smoking, one last rocket booster left and his competitor 100 meters ahead, Yaz hits the rocket booster, flying over a lava fall, landing hard in the lava and making it to the finish line on sheer momentum to an astonished crowd - he took 1st place barely, but in style. It was so memorable that Yar'Keer'ed didnt even dock him his pay and is now interested in working together as a team with Eusyl joining us. Yaz made 160 Styrigi and Eusyl made 80 styrigi on that race. Everyone won 200 Styrigi on the bet. We'll find out how much Feekur won on that race. But wait, there's more... At the end of the night we call meet back up at Scooney's where Ke'Kremik is being beat up by cops for not providing a name... Kyle, Rodworth and Joseph step in to assist and are questioned themselves, putting them in a position to explain themselves. After a few Styrigi, a "telldose" (dont remember what they are called right now) and some assurances, the police leave Ke'Kremik alone. He is in bad shape and we take him up to the flat where Joseph has to perform minor surgery. On the way up Scooney looks at us and says "thank you." That's it, solemn in a way. The Vrusk has his arms/legs broken, fractured carapace and other injuries that Joseph tends too. As Joseph is working on Ke'Kremik, Eusyl and Rodworth take a better look at the picture of the 2 yazarians that walked out of S3 yesterday. They realize they werent Yazarians, but someone using holofields to look like Yazarians. Can't really make out what species they are, however we can rule out Vrusk. Also, Scooney also mentioned that the storage unit that was hit was under a false name and nothing is was in it. This definitely was a professional heist. With that the day comes to end and our merry band of adventurers as they settle in for their next day and great adventure... Will they learn more about the missing girl? Will Joseph make a medical breakthrough? Will Eusyl and Yaz be the next great race team? Who is Ke'Kremik and how will he repay the kindness of the group? Did Feekur bet on Yaz and how happy is he, hopefully not so much he demonstrates it all over Yaz and Eusyl! So many more adventures ahead... Join us next week and see... XP to follow.
