I have DMed before, but only a system called Microlite20, which is a very simple and easy to learn and play. Lately I read the 5e basic rules and I thought to myself: "Hey, this looks really nice!", so I decided to have a go at it. I played three times before, had a good time. But now it's time to take on the role of the DM, so here I am. Please note that this won't be an intricate plot, this is just a combat oriented one shot to test out the system from the other side of the GM Screen. Here's the "plot:" Various people have been kidnapped from the village of Erwood, a small community that bases its economy on the exporting of wood. The kidnappings have taken place during the night, after the third time this happened the village set out a town watch, however once morning came those keeping watch were piled at the entrance of the mayor's house, dead, while another member of the community was gone. A group of trackers was sent to follow any tracks of the attackers. Only one of them returned, who claimed they found the hideout but were caught and he was the only one capable of getting away. Five people have been taken away now, and the mayor has decided to seek out adventurers or mercenaries to deal with the kidnappers. The adventure will have lvl1 characters, you can roll your stats in game. Keep in mind that I've only read the basic rules on the Wizards site, so nothing fancy on my end. Feel free to use PHB classes and such, just explain your class features. If interested post something here, first come first serve.
