Player can see characters duplicated from theirs, but not assigned to them.

Detailed Description of the Problem When creating a new campaign "Insylum" (my second). I created the first character which was then assigned to the first player. After this, I had duplicated this character as a template for 4 other players and about 10 NPCs. I noticed that 2 dots appeared by the ones that were later assigned and 1 next to the NPCs that had no assignments, but didn't know why. Later, the first player informed me that he was able to see all of the characters in his Journal. I checked, but the only one that list him "In Player's Journal" or "Can Be Edited & Controlled By" was the first, but he could access all of them, it would seem because some flag in the background was still set linking to him as a player, simply because he was selected at the time of duplication. Steps to Reproduce the Problem I have not tried to duplicate the problem, but I did have to delete all of the characters accept his and recreate them from scratch to stop him from being able to see them. Description of Your Setup I am using firefox browser on a quadcore pentium with Windows 7.

I'm sorry you were frustrated by this issue, but it is not actually a bug. Behavior is performing as coded, just not as perhaps expected. :) If you duplicate a character you duplicate everything about it as it stands at that time, including things such as who can control and view the character. Our wiki has a fairly detailed section about character journals , and I'll excerpt here the sections on how to edit who can view and who can edit specific character journals: ----- Bio & Info Tab Information added to the Character window using the Edit button will be displayed here. Click the Edit button to further customize Character details. [ snip] In Player's Journals By default, only the GM sees the Character. To allow other Players to see the Character in their Journal tab, add their names to the "In Players Journals" field. You can also choose "All Players" to allow everyone to view the Character. Players who can view the Character will see the name, avatar, and any text typed on the Character's Bio & Info tab. Can Be Edited & Controlled By The Controlled By field allows you to give Players in your game the ability to "speak" as that Character in the Text Chat. They are also able to edit the Character's information if they control it. In addition, if you use the Represents Character feature of the Tokens Settings, players who have permission to control this Character will also be able to control any tokens that represent this character. You can also choose "All Players" to allow everyone to control or edit the Character. In addition, if the campaign uses Character Sheets , players who have permission to edit this Character will be able to view and edit the Character Sheet tab. ----- If this information doesn't help, can you please follow Steps 1-3 of our Solving Technical Issues wiki page, taking special care to temporarily disable all browser add-ons and extensions, temporarily pause your anti-virus, and try switching browsers (for Chrome/Firefox specific issues) to see if one of those components is causing the problem. If all of that fails, please follow Step 4 , including providing all of the necessary information, so that we can further assist you.
