Way to make GMrolls hidden from the player making them

It would be nice if there was a way to make it so that a player could do a GMroll and have the results hidden from the player.
/gmroll
/gmroll shows what you roll... I could write an api script to do it though, I think.
What honey badger said. I want a way for a player to roll a GM roll but they don't see the results of their own roll, like for a Sense Motive or Stealth roll

Yah...That would be good.  +1
I agree and add +1.
As a work-around I have macros which whisper the type of roll and the required number for the roll to the GM. I then do a /gmroll which the player does not see and whisper back to the player based on the result.
Or you could have the macro on your character sheet with gmroll and the GM pushes the roll. Or the GM could also create a sheet with all sense motives, perception and so on for every character in the group :-) only difference from these three last suggestions, and what's suggested, is that the GM do the clicking/typing /copypasting.

GM rolling the player /gmroll ability macros might be workable in my group. What do you if the player clicks on the macro? Do you have the players expectation set that you will always disregard it? It would be a bit quicker than the method we use. I don't think I could use the single sheet approach because the system we use has very many skills that currently use /gmroll I think it is important that the players do something to initiate checks like this. Which is why I support having a roll that players make but only GMs see the result of.

LochaberAxe , the Ability Macro is in each person's macro bar individually. Ie. If there is a common character sheet with an ability macro each player/GM would have to checkmark it to put it in their macro bar. That way, the player should not accidentally click on the macro.  - Gauss
Hi Gauss. The macro bar would be much too busy  if I had to put Sense, Listen, Spot, etc for each player on the bar. There are a LOT of rolls in BRP/RQ/CoC which we do as hidden rolls. My current method works : e.g. SPOT ability  /em scans the area for anything unusual /w gm Spot Hidden roll - target 65 Followed by  /gmroll 1d100 by the GM. It would however be neater if I could do something like /em scans the area for anything unusual /hiddenroll GM 1d100<65 In our face to face play the player rolls these dice in a box which they can't see and I try not to move them until I can see the result. Even with the current method Roll20 is better at this than actual-dice-in-a-box. Score one for VTTs
I like this idea. +1 for it. Let us be able to roll in a way that only GMs can see.
+1. I would also like a hidden roll feature, with a way for the GM to know whether it was a hidden roll or not.
I have made a single macro for Sense Motive. It pulls the Sense Motive score from the character sheets - which I told them to keep updated otherwise they might be rollin with stats from three levels ago, that's their problem then - and rolls them. Sure it rolls for all players at once, even if I only need one, I just ignore the other rolls then. I have that macro in my macro bar, and it's definitely easier that way than creating the macros in the different sheets and going in there all the time

If you want an API script for it, it would be very simple to make.
I would love for this to be a thing, there's a lot situations that call for exactly this function in order to prevent meta-gaming...
