LFP for - I don't know yet.

Hey there I'm a longtime GM looking to throw together a new group, and I'm trying to get excited about an idea for a game. I do Pathfinder and World of Darkness but I'm open to trying new systems. And the WOD system can honestly be used to throw together pretty much any kind of game you can imagine. So if you're interested, give me some ideas! Ancient Egypt fantasy where our protagonists use magic to extend their own lives? Or do they bathe in the blood of unwilling victims? Pathfinder high seas survival? Wild west? Anyway, if you can make me excited about a game, chances are, I'll run it. So feel free to throw some ideas at the wall and see what sticks. And really try to sell it. Thanks for humoring me. I look forward to character creation with you. :-) Also also, any game I assemble will be played on my usual time slot: Sundays Noon to 7 Central time, usually with a lunch break around 4. -Ian
I'm mostly worried about the time slot (7pm at GMT-6 means ending the session at 1am, and after having a shower I won't fall asleep until 2am), since I have some sleep issues. If the session ended at midnight my time/6pm yours I could probably work it if I started having an extra coffee/caffeine drink on Monday mornings. Besides that, have you looked at the Pathfinder Adventure Paths? Most of them are pretty well written and have some nice info on the setting they take place in, and solve the problem of how to start the campaign quite nicely, since starts can often be awkward. You can, of course, go 'off the rails' and abandon the 'path at any time, and they're always better when the GM/DM customizes them somewhat for the group, but as a setting/starting point, I'd recommend a skim over the existing ones :)
Yeah I've run modules before but I'm better when I can craft everything bottom to top, the whole world, and a story I'm really excited about. To do that I need to seed it from the get go. I'm great at story telling, but I have to get excited about a system and setting or I just can't GM it.
im looking to make a new D&D system. something that is kinda harder but looking for people to help me build it. it is about nature and spirits. i would like to join but i don't know if it is possible plz let me know if u maybe are intrested to listen to my idea ...
What about something with some planer travelling & exploration? Pathfinder's planes have been very briefly touched on, and you could do some interesting things with exploring the parts of the planes that aren't designed for 'level 10+ players' with all the ancient artefacts and main cities. We could explore those too, but there's surely some 'less powerful' parts to the planes that are still very interesting.
Hey Ian, enjoy your out of the box concepts. Just my two cents, but since you're very familiar with Pathfinder and WoD, why not mix the two? http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/monsters/monste... As you can see there's rule sets out there that allow players to make playable monsters with PC classes in Pathfinder. There's also a few support books out there from Paizo or Third Party Sources that allow people to play vampires, half-fiends, minotaurs, lycanthropes, giants and dragons to name a few. The party's main concept could even be that the players essentially a band of monsters that have joined together; either tired of persecution or just wanting to get power. The antagonists could be monster-hunters, factional rivals, or greater threats to existence. You could pretty much throw in planar travel, ancient egypt, or just about anything into the mix.
Zick: I don't know if I'm your man there. Lyee: I will add that to the list definitely. I can see coming up with some ideas along those lines. I will consider it for sure. Once I start dabbling in these ideas a little one will start speaking to me. I usually feed off of the enthusiasm of my players, but at the moment, I don't have any players. Hence the writer's block. Shah: I could see doing something with playable monsters of some sort. That could be fun. I'll definitely look into it. If I do use Pathfinder rules, I'll be doing so with some of the game tweaks from "Pathfinder Unchained" because it's awesome. The class rebalances especially. I also love the separation of skills into "Background Skills" and "Adventuring Skills" so I'm keen to play around with that kind of thing as well.

What about exploring uncharted territories? Kind of like exploring the New World but in a Pathfinder setting where the New World is brimming with weird and fantastical creatures, monstrous natives and fascinating mysteries left by a long gone but mighty civilization? A search for El Dorado, but on Golarion? Or on a homebrewn world if you want to build the entire world from scratch, whatever floats your boat,
Also since you're familiar with WoD, you could always throw in a good dose of politics and intrigue in medieval times so not every chapter is about kill, loot, and adventure. Sort of like Game of Thrones, you know?
Simon: That's a great idea. Could go well with the planar adventuring idea as well. Shah: All of my games have politics and intrigue. Always. 1 part gritty, 1 part dark, 1 part violent, 1 part intrigue and then 2 parts whatever the system is. That's my secret recipe, shhh.
Have you checked out Pathfinder's Mythic Adventures, Distant Worlds, or Technology guides? They add in epic level style play (without having to go over 20) in addition to space opera technology respectively.
I don't want to cross the streams on my sci fi and fantasy really. I haven't touched the Technology or Distant Worlds, but I ran a Mythic game once.
Okay I went ahead and nailed down an idea and a plan. Gotta play to find out. https://app.roll20.net/lfg/listing/27559/pathfinde... Thanks for the help brainstorming!
Argh! I wanted to sign up, but now that it's been pushed even later to 8pm your time, I'd have to leave every session 1-2 hours early, so I'm out. Best of luck!
Awwww, sorry Lyee. It was a group decision. Thanks for your interest though, and if it ends up being significantly shorter I'll be sure to let you know.
I too would like to know if it is shortened. As it appears now it would not end until around 3 am at night where I'm from, which is not optimal on a Sunday/Monday. Hope the roleplaying goes well either way! :)
