WebRTC Trial until Friday: Give us Your Feedback!

We've been working on a new implemenation of the built-in video chat that Roll20 offers, powered by WebRTC. This is a new, native, high-definition video chat that doesn't require Flash or any other plugins to function. Currently it's only well-supported by Chrome version 27 or higher (that's the current version that you probably have if you're using Chrome). From now until Friday, we've enabled this functionality for all users so you can help test it and give us feedback on it.  Full Instructions for Using WebRTC Are Available Here on the Wiki There are a few things that aren't implemented yet, such as the sizing of the avatars not working, but for now we're basically just interested in the general functionality: does it work for you and your players? Is it better than the current Flash-based video chat? Thanks in advance for your help and feedback!
Note that as of today there is a new version of Firefox out (version 22), and the new WebRTC supports it as well. So if you're using the latest version of Firefox OR Chrome, you can use it! (And your group can have a mix e.g. some on Firefox, some on Chrome, that works fine, too).
Hmmm... I can't use voice. I have selected Voice only in settings, and running Chrome 27. I use a G930 Microphone which is found when I push settings on my icon.  The Settings-icon has an orange !-icon on it. The Microphone-option says I have max sound.  When I push Change on the Microphone in the Settings, I chan choose between Default and G930, both says "No Activity" with a warningsign and an !. While when I right click the sound icon on my Windows 8, and click "Recording Devices", I can see that the microphone works (and I have also made echo with what it records) so it seems not to be the headset which is the problem..  This has been working before, but when I joined today, I couldn't speak. Oh..... This is on flash.... Still it's a problem :-P Should I create a new thread in bugs?
Worked ok with me and two others after we figured out we needed to reset our avatar size to bigger than small.  Worked a lot better than it has in the past and everybody loved having more screen space compared to Google+ Hangouts, which we've been using for the past few months.  Great job!

Thanks for the feedback! Yes the different sizing is something we still need to fix.
First of all, thank you so much for working on this. I'm running Linux and firefox, so my flash suport is horrible and the flash version keeps crashing all the time. Having said that, unfortunately the webrtc version doesn't seem to work at all. For some reason the camera and mic permissions box simply never appear. I have tested it on Firefox 22, Chromium 25 and Chrome 28. I haven't tested it on Windows. I know webrtc works on all 3 browsers because the "reference implementation" work on them. ( <a href="https://apprtc.appspot.com" rel="nofollow">https://apprtc.appspot.com</a> ) If you need this tested on Linux, just let me know. I'd be more than happy to help in any way possible. I can't wait to get this working. Edit: Forgot to mention that your previous webrtc test maybe a half a year ago or so worked fine on my machine. Chrome (don't remember the version) and Linux.
Ok, now I feel really stupid. I just saw the webrtc button in the options and started "testing" it. Didn't read the wiki until just now. Apperently you need to have two players with webrtc on for it to work. Problem is that my players are not very intrested in trying new things so I was testing it by myself first. Sorry for the pointless ramblings and thank you again for working on this. I will try to test it better next time.
I tested it before I started a real game. I love the quality, but the stability was questionable. After working for a few minutes web cams would freeze (voices worked fine), and I decided to be safe and switch back to Flash. Both my tester player and myself had the issue of web cam freezes only have a few minutes. Microphone quality never changed even during the freeze, very clean and sharp.
Any more updates on this perhaps, still trying to figure out if doing the game here, or at G+ hangout is best fo the players and me Thanks Tom
Hi guys. have you read this post? <a href="http://www.ideyatech.com/2013/06/how-will-webrtc-transform-the-internet/" rel="nofollow">http://www.ideyatech.com/2013/06/how-will-webrtc-transform-the-internet/</a> This might give you some info about webrtc. Thanks, Nicole
I'm kind of curious, is there any plan to change the mobile version of roll20 to allow mic and camera *if* webrtc is compatible?
