🍵 What is a cleric’s favorite hot drink? Divini-tea. 🍵
Well as the title says I'm interested in either starting up or participating in a Call of Cthulhu Game. I do enjoy roleplaying and I love the mythos / lore of Cthulhu so... yeah. Reply back if you're interested in playing or DMing for this game :)
I'm interested. I've never done it myself so I'd start as a player, but the main reason I want to play is to learn the ropes as I'm buying the actual books in the near future for a local group I'm going to DM.
I guess it could work one of two ways: I join a game you create and I either play or spectate, or I start up my own campaign in a few weeks at least so I can get my feet drenched in Cthulhu and set up a good campaign.
The best time for me to play would be late at night, as I tend to be busier earlier in the evening. But we can discuss details if it actually happens :)
My time zone is central. I can play at 6:30 or 7:00 pm usually on weekdays but the weekend would be best. On the weekend especially Saturday at 12:00 in the afternoon.
Im in Eastern GMT -4 ,I could prolly free up some time Saturdays if that is when everyone else was up for playing, or Thursday nights would work pretty well for me, what GMT - is Central?
I would be a beginner as well, and my time is EST. I can do most days except Mondays and Tuesdays (got other games on those days), late evenings (games beginning 10 or later at night), Sunday evenings from 8 p.m. or later, or early mornings most days, as in games beginning at 8 a.m., as I primarily work evenings/weekends.
So me and Jinsei have decided 10pm thursday GMT -4 would work for both of us, how do other feel about that, also how much do you guys know about the Mythos and such?
Yeah Thursday @ 10pm should work for me. For experience with the Mythos and such I do not know much as I would be a beginner to this, but have the books to help
I can make but can only stay for a couple of hours. I will let you know when I can't make it because I am in college ,and sometimes I have tests and I will have to study. I
have read Call of Cthulhu and several other of Lovecraft's stories.
If your interested in having a player thats new to both the Cthulhu games and Roll20 in general I would love to join. :)
I've read a few of Lovecraft's stories and have always been intrigued in the Cthulhu mythos so I do have some basic knowledge of the universe.
My time is at -4 GMT, but I have a very flexible schedule and can most likely play at anytime.
We have been discussing Thursday at 10pm GMT -4 would this time work for you as well? Not really sure what the group size is looking like at the moment though.
That will work fine with me. :) As I've said before my schedule is very flexible so I can join in at anytime.
I'm afraid I dont have any of the roleplaying books for reference though so if this is a problem just let me know.
Cthulhu is a Sci-fi setting, if you mean futuristic, the more advanced the equipment the harder it becomes to set up situations that can't just be teched all over :B
I guess we should go ahead and discuss what time period it will be set in. I think it should probably be set in more modern times or maybe the early 1900's, but I dont have a problem with it being further into the future either.
If it were to take place in a more futuristic setting though I dont believe the advanced weaponry we could obtain would still help much though, from what I've heard about in this game weapons don't do anything at all unless its against another human like yourself, against any Cthulhu mythos monster they really provide nothing but a false sense of security.
Either one sounds good to me. If it's set in either the 40's or 60's then there may the influences of WWII and Vietnam in the story so those can be some things to think about.
What about the 80's ? Our characters could say tubular or exellent. Seriously though I think the eighties could work. it could take place when the hostage crisis occured with Jimmy Carter.
I don't know how interesting 1980's would be, unless you want to have your character do something with computers, the technology limits would be a bit odd.
I'll go with either one, though i do believe that we should stick with 1920's. It's seems like a really appropriate time for a game like this to be set in and should provide for easier immersion.
I already have the basis of the campaign done (retooling an older one) If you wanna do something with the Hitler angle, I am sure we would all be willing to play in it.
Perhaps we should go with the one thats already mostly finshed then. If at all possible then we could have the nazi thing be a subplot thats thrown in there if you really want it.
Maybe the Nazi spy thought some kind of mythological power is in the house and discovers that someone is having a Halloween party there. IT CAN BE DONE.
So do have a consensus that the game will take place in the 40's if so I want to make my character a either a veteran of WWII someone who was injured and sent home but came across a legend of Cthulhu during his time in the war or a cop who had previously come across the legend in a previous city and who is suspicious of all legends and feels like the creature has somehow watching him.
I would perfer the 1920's really. The 40's sound like they could be good since you could involve WWII which creates alot of options, but I feel like the 20's is around the time most games and stories from the series should be set in since its more accurate on a literal level with the original stories of Lovecraft's.
