LFG: Newbie Wanting to Learn Any Version of D&D

Hello! As the title suggests I am completely new to tabletop games but eager to learn. I would like to learn one of the versions of D&D. I'm not picky as to which one. One of the main things I'm looking for is a friendly DM and group who don't mind helping me learn the ropes. I like to think I learn fast and I'm good with reading things up and researching on my own as well. I also would prefer a smaller more dedicated group to a larger one likely no more than ten players altogether. While I do have a Skype I can't do voice chat or video chat. I know I prefer lots of story elements and character development to just fighting monsters so that would also be a plus. I'm in the CST time zone and I can be online most afternoons and evenings in that time zone. So if anyone would like another member to their group and don't mind teaching a newcomer please let me know!

Hey, and welcome to the community. The real trick with your situation is no voice chat. I think 80% or more of gamers here are voice. But there are some text games. In the past, I've tried to mix voice and text players and it didn't work out. Not saying you should convert or amend your needs, just giving you the heads up that text games can be found, it just takes a bit longer. In any case, good luck.

Also I should also mention that any group that does fantasy or medieval fantasy or supernatural themed games would be welcome as well. D&D is slightly preferred as I've always wanted to learn that but I'm open to learning other systems too.

yeah, text only is definitly gonna narrow your options in the long run. and for a newbie especially, youre gonna want to be able to ask questions and get answers fairly quickly.
