brand new player LFG

I've never played a tabletop rpg before, but i've always loved the concept just never had a chance to play. I would love to play dresden files (huge fan of the world), firefly, VtM, D&D 5e. Im pretty open but dresden files would be my first pick. Please note that while I do have a running basic concept of how these games are played I've never played one myself, so i would need help making a character and how to play.
What times work for you. I am working on starting an Only War game myself. I am also part of a Pathfinder game in which we are playing Rise of the Runelords. That is the original Adventure Path and is classic in every sense of the word. Only War is based on the Imperial Guard from the Warhammer 40K universe.
I dont know what any of that means, im sorry. I heard of pathfinder but i though the rules were more complex than d&d 5e so would I even want to try that?
Hmm, if you are up for something less then serious, I would look into the Savage Worlds System and the Low Life ReDrudged setting. I would not buy Low Life yet though. However, Savage Worlds is a great univewrsal system, cheap, and has free quick start rules available from Drive Thru RPG.
buy? i was looking for a game to play on here
There are some free game systems out there, Stars without Number is one I like. Plus the Source Reference Documents for D&D 3.5, Pathfinder, D20 Modern, to name a few. Roll 20 hosts your game table but does not provide the game per se.
i get that but all i would need is rules pretty much right? plus i dont want to go out and buy a bunch of stuff for games ive never played and dont know anything about, i would rather stick to the ones i listed since i know i would enjoy those
my offer from 10 months ago still stands

Can one assume, then, that you have the rulebooks for dresden files, firefly, VtM, and D&D 5e?
The trick to making this happen is getting the rules or finding a GM with the rules for the game you want to play, that is willing to reach out and help you, even if you don't have the rules. Because the player to Dungeon Master / Game Master ratio is pretty high with a low number of DMs, it's more likely that DMs will (but not always) seek the player with a book. Savage worlds costs 10.00. 5e costs 50 new, but can be had a bit cheaper on ebay, if you live inn the U.S. I bought a bunch of savage worlds deluxe edition paperback starter book for 4 and 5 dollars each plus shipping last month from eBay. My suggestion as a solution is to watch some videos and reviews of the games you are seeking, then dive in and buy a book or two. If not, the situation will likely remain static and continue, unresolved, while you wait for someone to extend a hand to you, and make a character for you, or with you. And you don't need "A bunch of stuff." Still, 5e, Savage worlds, and Pathfinder are the most popular around here, it seems. Good luck, and welcome to the community.
