Looking for alternative to skype

Normally I just keep copying my campaign over and over again to keep the chat log from getting overloaded but my players have expressed... annoyance at this. (And I can't copy campaigns right now in the dev server anyway.) So they suggested we just keep everything in various separate skype rooms, the problem is skype is a super megaly inefficient program that sucks bandwidth. So I thought maybe IRC as its an old enough system that it should be very efficient, but apparently you can't save logs with irc without some massively complicated nonsense. So are there any recomendations?

Copy the chat log out to a text file/google doc/etc (by using the chat archive/select all/copy/paste) and then just delete the chat (clear chat archive)? Or am I not understanding what end result you want?
Hmm... that could work, thank you.
Devlin are you saying your Chat Archive gets overloaded or the in-game chat log? If it is your in-game chat log, then you can feel comfortable clearing that log as your archive is safely saving all of your records. Visit the Campaign Management area of your game to view the archive. If it is your archive that you feel is overloaded, you can clear that as well from the same Campaign Management area and I think Diana P.'s idea of using a shared Google Doc might work well for you.

You could also print the Chart Archive as a PDF File and store that in a Dropbox or Google Drive.
I think its too big for me to copy and paste as its taking a long time. Question, I noticed if I click hide whispers the bar just adds on ?hide whispers=true can I type in like ?hide rolls=true and ?hide everything not a /me= true?

Google docs doesn't work, the file is too large I guess, keeps saying there is an upload error. :( Edit: Never mind I cut the log in half and uploaded it in two parts and it went through.
You can simply add ?hidewhispers=true to the end of the chat archive url to hide whispers, but the chat archive does not support the other url tags you mentioned.
I would try GV's idea then, as you can "Print" to PDF and save those files in a dropbox folder for your crew.

I cut the chat log in half and uploaded it into two parts and it went through. Thanks now I don't have to keep copying the campaign.
