Level Six, Whatcha' Get?

I can now give everyone advantage on skills to break being frightened or charmed! I also got a new cantrip and a 2nd attack. Time to double up on that trident!
Welcome to the two for one attack action club Marit. We monks were getting a little lonely. As for myself, I can now shadow port 60 feet as a bonus action, which I believe makes me the fastest party member for now, with a max speed of 140 feet in a turn. I also get boosted damage from my acid breath.
These are sweet! Level 6 is sounding badass. What about the rest of you? I would love to see Vetari's new spell choices if Trace happens on this post ... :)
Wholeness of Body: I use an action to heal myself for 3 times my monk level (which is 18 at the moment). Ki-Empowered Strikes: My unarmed attacks are now considered magical for resistance/immunity purposes (just in time!). Monks also get an additional Ki point and +5 movement speed, which puts my base speed at 60. Sorry Marco, I got you beat with 180ft/round.
Level 6 isn't huge for me, I now have double proficiency bonus in Acrobatics and Stealth, in addition to the one's I already had. Now, level 7 is big for me, get back to me then.
How do you have 180 per round?
Marco G. said: How do you have 180 per round? I second this. Base speed 60 ... dash 120, where's the extra 60?

Yep. We get an achievement for killing a wizard in his sleep before he can cast spells lol.

Yes but that's still only the move action and dash bonus action. It leaves you free to attack with your main action.
Marco G. said: Yes but that's still only the move action and dash bonus action. It leaves you free to attack with your main action. Agreed, to me it doesn't read as Move, Dash, bonus action dash It reads as Move, Action (like attack), bonus action dash
I think it is commonly agreed that a move and 2 dashes are possible. There's the standard move. Then a player may replace their attack action to dash. Some classes, like the rogue at level 2 with cunning action and monk at level 6 may also use their bonus action to dash. See: https://www.reddit.com/r/dndnext/comments/2uy1x6/t... https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/2gk5ep/50_us... https://www.reddit.com/r/DnD/comments/2tt88v/doubl... https://olddungeonmaster.wordpress.com/2014/07/26/... This means that I am only the third fastest character behind Belanor and then Tarnach, but I only needn't be the slowest character!

If you include Speurkat into your movement, aren't you the fastest out of all of us?? This should put this Dash ruling to rest. http://www.sageadvice.eu/2015/02/10/dash-twice/
Hmmm... maybe a Dwarf with a base movement of 25 ft. was a poor choice? Good thing he's a tanky fighter because he won't be able to run. lol
I still need a GM to link my character sheet in game to me. The character name is Darrak Ironfist.

Also, welcome Brock!
So I'd just like to apologize for my own private thought of "who the f*** is brock j". Lol. More than anything, I was surprised. To start over:welcome brock. So what kind of fighter are you?
I'm a Dwarven Fighter Champion. I need to find plate armor yet, but once I do I should be able to be either a tank or a DPS machine for you guys.
That's awesome. I just wish they had increased the crit bonus champions get. They get a ton of features, but a 15-20 crit would've been awesome. This also gives me an ample opportunity to allow me to flavor my way into Multi-classing into fighter. I'm going to be battlemaster though.
Cool. I don't know how easy it will be to get plate mail, but once I do I should have a pretty good AC. I should be able to tank well for us then.
Well it's gonna take some time to gather the money. Plate is 1.5k gold, and takes the better part of a year to craft if I recall. Do you have smiting proficiency, cause if you do then we can cut the time down significantly by partnering up. We can even hire another Smith to join us on the road and we can get you that plate in no time. ... ... Of course, if I had known Wed have a fighter join us, I would have saved the plate mail from the living armor way back during our fourth session or so. I sold it instead for around 350g. It's a shame in hindsight.
Yea, that's more what I'm looking for. Finding it from something we off, or buying a set that has already been crafted. Usually by level 6 or 7th the players have had the ability to at least get it once or twice. So I'm sure it'll come up again. :)
Welcome Brock! Brock, care to introduce yourself? Tell everyone about your gaming history and a little more about your character. I am on vaca this weekend without access to my computer but I think I was able to give you editing permissions from my phone to your character sheet. I'll look over in more detail soon.
Oh and yes, I'm overruled. Two dashes is good to go if your bonus action allows it
Well, I'm Brock. I've been playing D&D for over a decade and been playing 5E since it was in the test phase. I also DM several campaigns myself so I am very familiar with the classes and game system. Sure, I love hack and slash the same as everyone else, but I also like character development. The little qwerks each player gives their character makes it really fun. My character is Darrak Ironfist. He's a Dwarven Fighter Champion. I designed him to be able to tank for us, and then do DPS if needed. Just need to see if I can find him some Plate Mail and he'll be good to hook. Darrak Ironfistwas born to a mountain dwarf tribe where at a young age he already had a larger than average physique. Though not the sharpest axe in the armory, he was good with his fists. He found himself being the protector of many of the smaller dwarves when they were being bullied. Although he had a disdain for those that couldn't fight or prove themselves, he also felt it was his duty to protect those weaker than him. This continued throughout his childhood until one day the bullies had apparently had enough. They plotted to take care of Darrak once and for all. One evening while walking home, he was attacked by 4 of them at once, intent on persuading him to no longer protect the smaller dwarves through some aggressive negotiations. The fight did not go as they had planned. Darrak was proceeding to hand all 4 a beating when one pulled a knife and stabbed him. Darrak was not fatally wounded, but in the rage that ensued he ended up killing the dwarf who had stabbed him. The tribe did not take kindly to the death of one of their own at the hands of one of their own. Even though it was self defense, Darrak was forced into service of the tribe as part of their military. There, Darrak was trained in all forms of weapons and armor. He participated in every major conflict his tribe had since the day he joined, and a few that were not supposed to be mentioned. He was a natural and quickly rose through the ranks to be a junior officer in the army. He thought he'd found his true calling. At least, until the portals opened...
So be it. D&D stands for double dash now.
Cool story bro. And I mean it. Seems like Tarnach and Darrak have a few things in common. Tarnach also helps those who aren't strong, but refuses to do so if they're just going to sit around waiting for help.
Yep, then we'll definitely get along. lol
Just a little backstory for how Darrak Ironfist ends up with you all. Obviously he was one of the soldiers in the army marching north with you...the army split west to head tothe city of Efe while you move through the Werish Swamp to head to the East of Efe. Darrak was separated from the army and waded through the swamp alone...until he enters initiative at the start of next session.
I don't know how much Trace is on the boards here, but if he wants, I can comb through his spells and get them all working before Sunday, if he so wishes.
Hoping at some point to actually get my character sheet linked to me so I can see it and edit it in game... *sigh
yeah, you'd like that, wouldn't you?
So I realized belanor needs to start role playing some more. He's essentially a Kung fu master, which means he needs to start doing bad dubs on his audio.
Marco G. said: So I realized belanor needs to start role playing some more. He's essentially a Kung fu master, which means he needs to start doing bad dubs on his audio. I roleplay Belanor more of a action-speaks-louder-than-words type of guy, but I'll have him speak up more if you think I'm not saying enough. As for the dubbing, I'll just have my microphone be randomly soft/loud at inappropriate times :)
It was joke really. I heard it on a 5e monk video, and thought you guys might enjoy the comparison between open hand hand monk and bad lip syncing Kung fu movies.
No worries, What video was it from?
The Nerdarchy 5e monk review. Those guys are pretty funny.
Trace reporting in here; I'm out of town for work but booked an emergency rental car because it should put me home faster than flight; I might be late but can't predict traffic. As for level six I get potent cantrip and and extra spell slot. I'm not sure my evoker feature benefits me much because my offensive cantrip requires attack roll instead of a save, will have to look at spell list.
update: leveled up and sorted out, cant wait to play
Trace, I can run your character for you if you want until you get in.
I won't be able to make it tonight guys. Very sorry something sudden has come up.
Well that's unfortunate.
