[LFP] - 13th Age Campaign, Time/Details TBD

WHAT? 13th Age (13A) Campaign; If you're unfamiliar with 13th Age, check it out - http://www.pelgranepress.com/?p=9764 WHO? As a heads up, you'll be playing with a new GM (me), and some folks (family/friends of mine) that are new to RPGs to boot. WHY? With all of that out of the way, 13A is a great system for us as it is FAR less crunchy than Pathfinder, and thus, easier to learn. At the same time, it's d20 at it's core and very easy to make sense of, if you're at all familiar with any D&D/d20 systems. We don't have any ideas or details of what to run yet, but it's most likely going to be (a) gritty, (b) funny, and (c) full of pitfalls as we try to figure out what we're doing :) WHEN? We're all US - Central timezone, and planning on 2 games/month, most likely for 2-3 hours during the week / evenings. Probably starting in about a month, with a couple of one-shot sessions between now and then to cover some basics and teach the system. Chances are that we will NOT have a fixed evening, as our schedules don't permit it, and we'll need to be flexible on days between Mon.-Thu. We'll probably need 5-6 more people as a result, and have some rotating groups/players as schedules allow. Chances are not everyone will always be able to attend every session, but that's okay, because I will be pushing things along with a good amount of play-by-post stuff, too. WHERE? Roll20, obviously, and either Skype or WebRTC chat. Voice communication is a must . ANYTHING ELSE? Yes! First - We're all in our 30s, some with kids, some without, some with jobs, some with careers, etc. etc. Overall, we are not TOO serious about this, and looking for folks that will enjoy gaming with us, as a party of 2-3 (what we have now) just ain't enough. But, before you click "reply", you should know that 13A is story/RP intensive. We're not looking for Thespians or super-serious RP, but my hope is to push our little group into being creative, fun, imaginative, and entertaining. Looking for some folks to join us that can/want to do the same. Please, for the love of all that's holy, if you want to join us, give me some information about who you are, etc. Don't just post "I'd be game". Feel free to PM me if you'd rather, too. We are hoping to find, again, fun, courteous, entertaining, dramatic gamers. This group won't work well with you if you want to min-max everything, be rude (or sexist/racist/etc.), and so on. Second - If you don't have the 13A rules, I have some preview/playtest versions that (I think?) can be distributed. Third - a preview of 13A and what it's like from the designers: Critics complained that 3E weighed the game down with rules for everything, turning an open-ended roleplaying game into a complicated simulation, arithmetic on a grid. 13th Age is a rules-light, free-form, gridless way to play a story-oriented campaign. 3E took the game forward in terms of player options and universal mechanics, and we have followed suit. Critics compared 4E to a board game or miniatures game that distanced itself from its roots. 13th Age is about story-oriented campaigns not minis, and it revisits its roots with its setting and rules. 4E took the game forward in terms of balance and game play, and so do we.
Friendly bump, cheers!
Are you still looking, by any chance? I'm a big fan of 13th Age, and recently converted my in-person Sunday night game over to it. I'm a forever-DM, however, and would love an opportunity to experience the game as a player. (That, and I'd like to mix it up. I've been playing with the same group of guys for three years.) I'm 25, in the NYC area, and enjoy both 'serious' roleplaying, as well as sessions of the 'drink beer and make each other laugh' variety. The casual, less crunchy style of 13th Age plays kind of perfectly into the kind of game I enjoy taking part in. Two games a month, and the assumed length of sessions kind of work perfectly for what I'm looking for - and the only weeknight I'm absolutely not available is Wednesday nights. I'm "experienced" in the system - and completely willing to help teach new people, if that gives me any kind of bonus. So yeah, if you're still looking and think I would be a good fit - please, let me know!
