New Design Regressions Megathread

Hi Luis E. We pushed out a fix to resolve this issue. If you are still experiencing this issue, c an you please follow Steps 1-3 of our Solving Technical Issues wiki page, taking special care to temporarily disable all browser add-ons and extensions, temporarily pause your anti-virus, and try switching browsers (for Chrome/Firefox specific issues) to see if one of those components is causing the problem. If all of that fails, please follow Step 4 , including providing all of the necessary information, so that we can further assist you.
John P. said: Finally got a Private Message to work. Yep! That issue should be fully resolved now.
Not really a big deal but there is bit of a flaw in the new design for people who have a title drawn into the game thumbnails. (On the campaign details page) In this case the subtitle of my campaign is almost completely hidden. The campaign title is overlapping and the white fade cuts off the bottom of the thumbnail. Not a huge issue but it would be nice if we could have the option to show off the full thumbnails on the details page without it getting blocked off or faded out.
My screen is stuck loading as well for each and every campaign. This is happening in both Firefox and Chrome. Any updates?
We've added an additional pagination to the top as well as bottom of forum post threads, and the Post Reply box will now stay open by default, so you don't have to scroll up to the top to click on the "Post Reply" button to reply to a thread. Hitting the "quote" button will now also work properly even if you haven't yet clicked on "Post Reply." Finally, clicking on the Post Reply button will now correctly take you to the bottom of the page.
Ryan H. said: BP said: I like the new layout, but the drop down menus don't work right on safari with iOS 8.4 on an iPad. The menu drops down but none of the links, I assume they are links to other pages, work. When I press on any of the text or images in the drop down menu, the menu disappears and nothing happens. What iPad version do you have? Ryan H. I'm using an iPad mini 3 model A1600 running iOS 8.4. I did clear the Safari cache and reloaded the site, but still doesn't work.
Ryan H. said: Mr. T said: Two issues: - hitting post repl here on the forum does not take you to the text area, seems like nothing happens but when you scroll down, the post reply box is there - i cannot log in in an ipad using the menu, just cant type anything into the email or password field Thanks Mr. T, We are aware of the first issue. As for the iPad part, I don't personally own one but I have asked one of our other developers to take a look into it to test on their end. NP - I recommend a service like BrowserStack to verify device / browser combinations work.
As far as the forums go, I found it more intuitive that the topic would go to the last thread in the post. As it stands now, threads I have generally read, you need to page through to the last post. Definitely feels less intuitive to me.

In the Campaign Details section, when you hover over the Player Icons (see image below) all you get for information is Promote to GM or Kick From Game... not their names. Could we get either a mouse over of the names, names below the icons, or added to this small menu?

The width of the forum is way too big for widescreen monitors. It makes it difficult to read without forcing it smaller by not maximizing the window.

Isit possible to add an additional zoom level to make the size of the texts and everything nromal again - not that huge Touch Device optimised thing that it is currently using? I can barely see more then two or three posts at once on the forums on my 24" screen which is annoying as hell :( And the uneccesary white spaces are stealing space for more text at a glance as well. :(

@C David, we are looking into this issue now and trying to determine why some are still affected. Sorry for the inconvenience.
As someone who frequents the forums a lot, I can assure you that while the current iteration is new-reader friendly, I am planning to add functionality so that if you have already read a post, it jumps to the newest-unread post in that thread. Hopefully should be added later today or tomorrow.
If you were still having loading issues, can you try giving it another shot?
I can't access my Game Master's Campaign, it is constantly stuck on the loading screen.
Nevermind im in now
I'm not usually one to complain but I really think the Home page could be laid out in a more immediately useful format. After all, the folks who play several times a week or more shouldn't need to be bombarded with a 128px Welcome Back text box that, to my admittedly poor eye for design, looks like it was put there to fill empty space next to the Twitter feed. I'd love to see a more compact, quick-and-easy-to-enter-the-game-that's-starting-in-5-min home page instead of having to scroll down or click through menus. Something like this perhaps? (and yes, this is probably rubbish given my limited MSPaint abilities ☺) This places our joined games right at the top, easily accessible through a scrolling menu, includes a search field, and places the Create New Game and Find Games links right on the home page where new people will see them right away. The Scroll menu would work well for mobile users while also reducing page downloads on slower connections from submenus. I expect, as with anything, there will be endless tweaks and rejiggering... and we'll eventually get used to it, but I feel like the redesign has made the site less *useful* at the expense of looking pretty.
@Joseph N. Good to hear!
We're definitely taking a look at that page, Mark. I agree that on that page in particular we may have gone a little too "nice to see" and not enough "people who are using the site every day need better access to their games." As you said, our intent here is definitely to take in the constructive feedback we're getting and keep improving. Obviously I'm biased, but I think the new design holds a lot of potential.
Found a bug in the marketplace, when clicking on the name of a creator from one of their sets it gives a 404 error. looking at the URL generated from clicking there vs doing a search for just the author from the main marketplace search it appears the URLs are missing the ?keywords=&sortby=popular&type=all&genre=all&author= part.

Thanks Roger. I tested this and have verified this on my end. We will be working on resolving this issue.
Hey guys... I broke the Query system: Told it to set the value to call another macro, it calls the macro, but then the macro fails to execute on roll. It might be something weird with the default template being called by the drop down menu.

This is something we will consider implementing. Thanks. Disagree. Most forums I browse, clicking on their title takes you to the first post, which is usually the intro/question. Otherwise, it's like dropping into a conversation without having learned anything already discussed. Especially in "how do I do X" topics where it's generally important to know what's been tried before. That said, most forums also come with a link that will also take you to the last post/page, so a user can choose to either "Read first post" or "read last post." As it stands now, roll20 is on the extremes. Well I went through several forums that I frequent (which isn't all that many), but my experience is that it will either take you to the latest post or to the last post you read. As a frequent forum viewer, clicking 3+ times to get to part of the conversation that I am interested will not be terribly user friendly... however I can understand for the infrequent forum viewer they may want to read topics from the start as well. The previous incarnation would jump to the last post, which worked for me, so this change is definitely disruptive. Having it pick up from the last post read would be the best option, but not sure about the feasibility here. This +1 a million. Roll20 was quite literally the first (and as of yesterday, only) forum I read (and I've got accounts on a number of them) that forced you to read the last post, never the first. This made things difficult when I would try reading a sticky post (Oh look! Rules! Helpful CSS tricks! I should read this!) and get shoved to a comment that did not have that all important intro info, which was why the thread was stickied in the first place. I would also search the forum for threads to potentially help me answer a question I had, find a promising thread, and upon opening the thread get zoomed off into a comment that said effectively "thank you for the solution" and then I would have to scroll all the way back to A) see if the question actually was truly related to my own question and B) find the solution in the first place. All discussion-based sites I've ever browsed gave the option to either "Read First" AND "Read Last." Jumping always to the end would be great for very frequent forum readers, but not at all helpful to newbies.
I'm getting ridiculous loading times in the Marketplace at the moment. When viewing packs it takes 5 minutes+ to display all the thumbnails, which is obviously not helpful when browsing packs to purchase. For reference, I'm using Chrome and my internet connection is just fine.
I just wandered to the blog side of roll20 and it still seems to be using the old format as opposed to the new layout. Every other page I've gone to so far has the new layout. Just letting you guys know.

Thank you, though.
Clicking anywhere on the sign-in box causes it to immediately close on Chrome. You can only enter a username and password by tabbing...
When using the forums , this occurred during the transition between page 5 and 6 of a thread. The maximum number of posts on page 5 was reached (such as page 1 in this thread currently), and the option to click page 6 appeared. There was actually no content on that page and it returned a: NoMethodError: undefined method `timestamp' for nil:NilClass After posting another reply on page 5, my post was properly placed on page 6 as the first result. Either the button is being prematurely revealed or something else probably.

Screenshot of missing-GM and excluding campaign creator from Players box; Also white fade obscures my Campaign World graphic. 1. On my Campaign Details page... I am no longer listed as a Player. It seems that the Player count (7) fails to include the creator of the campaign (should say 8). At the top-right of the Campaign Page, it says "Created by: Gold". That's fine. It doesn't seem to say "GM" anywhere. Is the lack of "GM" intentional? It appears we have no GM. Underneath that, it says "7 Players" and lists the other 7 players, excluding me . I play the game too, with the others. Previously Roll20 has called that "8 Players" (and includes the creator, formerly labeled the GM, in the count). This has been called "Slots" in LFG and traditionally included the GM/owner in the slots count. It is strange to see a box saying 7 Players which includes the faces of everyone in the game excluding me , the first and longest-running player of the group. 2. Additionally, there is a White Fade (intentional?) over our main Campaign graphic [ See Screenshot ] . The fade makes the bottom of the World disappear into a white fog. The problem is, the fade hides the bottom of the world map picture that I made for the campaign logo. A small bit of text that was along the bottom, is missing. 3. P.S. Thank you very much, everyone responding and helping! Great work on the many things that have been fixed already today!!

@Gold -- Thanks for the feedback. The thinking there is that the Creator of a game has a very special/important role on the site. The features (such as Dynamic Lighting) that are available to a game, for example, are based on the Creator, not just who is GMing it. The Creator is always a GM, and can't be removed from a game. They're also the only ones who can promote/demote others, delete the game, change the game settings, etc. So we want to emphasize that role and give it a special place. I hadn't really considered that someone might find it odd not be listed in the Players box, so we'll definitely take that into consideration. Note that if you have other GMs besides the Creator of a game in the game, they do indeed show in the player box with a badge on their avatar to indicate they have GM status.

Okay, this is a Macro called: AngelBlade &{template:default} {{name=Archangel's Blade}} {{attack=[[1d20+8+?{attackModifier|0}]]}} {{damage=16 DC [[31 + ?{damageMod|0}]]}} AngelBlade works fine. This is the Query: ?{Name of Attack|AngelBlade, #AngelBlade |FlameBlade, #FlameBlade} The macro calls #AngelBlade, it asks for the attackModifier, it asks for the damageMod, and then it even asks you to roll the dice. Then... Nothing. It freezes up for a sec.

Windows 8.1 Chrome Version 44.0.2403.89 m 1920 x 1080 screen resolution None of the drop-down menus work for me. The main links(Home, Games, Marketplace, etc.) work fine, so I'm still able to get around. But when I click on the arrows for the drop-down options, the box opens, but clicking anywhere in the box(even where there's obviously supposed to be links) just causes the box to close. Mousing over the "links" doesn't even give any indication that there's something to click. This is also true of the Sign-In drop-down thing(signing in should never be in a drop-down in the first place, guys), but like Zero above I was able to use the Tab key to work around that. Other than that, I seem to be doing better than most. I'm in a game and was able to get to its main page and then to the table just fine. The forums don't look weird to me, and they adjust when I resize my browser fine. I've never used the marketplace, though, and I don't know what an API even is, so can't comment on those. As for the forum stuff, I can tell you standard procedure. On most forums, clicking through to a topic from the forum itself takes you to the first post, and clicking through from a notice(whether it be via email subscription or an on-site notice) takes you to the first unread post since you last visited the thread. Also, if the "Post Reply" box is always open, you really don't need a button at all. But if you must have it for some reason(I don't use Roll20 on my phone, and I don't even have a tablet, so I don't know about those), it really should be at the bottom under the last post on the page so you don't have to scroll all the way back up to click it. Having it up top is just plain weird. Oh, and I actually do like the new look of the site. I think it's pretty sleek and intuitive for the most part. It might not be perfect, but what is?
So while I am in the game looking for tokens for monsters. I was trying to buy a token pack. The purchase button is behind the avatar banner div tag. I cannot even mouse over the small little portion of the button to click. Resizing the purchase asset window or the browser windows does not make the button visible. This behavior was the same in Firefox and Chrome. Windows 8.1, Chrome 43. Resolution is
Since the update, I seem to have lost the ability to upload any maps bigger than 5MB, previously had up to 10MB. The error still says the max size is 10MB. Using google chrome Version 43.0.2357.134 m, can upload picture at 4.92MB, but not 5.01MB...
